We had the good fortune of connecting with Gloria Otero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gloria, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic and creative career because I believe that people need the freedom to express their feelings and aspirations. Dance and mindfulness both heal and bring happiness to people. In the modern world, where so much is directed towards technology and the corporate sphere, art and creativity are perfect for bringing balance to one’s life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was born in a small town in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I started dancing at age 8, and by 15, I earned a dance instructor certification from the prestigious Conservatorio Alvistur in Buenos Aires. This achievement allowed me to travel the world, sharing the art of dance.

From an early age, I was also drawn to mindfulness, yoga, and helping people. Driven by a passion for the arts, education, and wellness, I developed innovative instructional approaches and diverse programs tailored to individual needs. This experience helped me create a dance program for the visually impaired at the Braille Institute in Los Angeles, where I volunteered for several years.

I became a certified yoga and mindfulness instructor for kids and teens, fostering health, happiness, and well-being among young students. I also created the “Kids of Tomorrow” educational program, which intertwines Art, Science, Technology, and Mindfulness. This program empowers and guides children worldwide, nurturing their physical and emotional well-being and inspiring them to lead vibrant lives.

My passion for helping others led me to become a Reiki master, sound healer, and mentor. I help people heal, find their life missions, and make positive transformations to balance their body, mind, and soul. My healing and relaxation music is presented in an album titled “Creation to Ascension,” available on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and Pandora. Additionally, I created free guided meditations for adults and children in both English and Spanish, helping them relax and manage stress and anxiety.

All my classes, music, and workshops are offered in both English and Spanish, reflecting my commitment to reaching diverse audiences.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think the Los Angeles area offers a wide range of fun and interesting places. My itinerary for a week-long trip would combine all the highlights, especially for first-time visitors.

Day 1: Start with a magical day at Disneyland.
Day 2: Relax in nature at the Huntington Library.
Day 3: Spend an exciting day at Universal Studios.
Day 4: Enjoy a day of relaxation or kayaking at Pyramid Lake.
Day 5: Visit the Hollywood Sign and explore other interesting points in Los Angeles.
Day 6: Relax on Venice Beach and enjoy the Santa Monica Pier.
Day 7: If time permits, take a trip to the mountains. We are so lucky to have both nature and entertainment in one place.

For food, I recommend tasting a variety of cuisines: Mexican food one day, traditional In-N-Out burgers, Indian food, pho, and of course, Argentine food.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and friends all deserve recognition in my story. They always support my vision and encourage me to keep going.
