We had the good fortune of connecting with Gordana Gehlhausen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gordana, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I have started a nonprofit that teaches people everything I know and can pass on.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a visionary fashion designer and philanthropist renowned for my innovative designs and commitment to sustainability. Originally from Bosnia, I gained national recognition through my appearance on Project Runway, where I showcased my creativity and talent.

In addition to my success in fashion, I am deeply dedicated to giving back to the community. I have organized and participated in numerous fashion events, including Fall in Love with Fashion and Unveiled Elegance: A Fashion Odyssey, to support organizations like the Berry Good Food Foundation, which promotes local and sustainable food practices.

My passion for empowering others and driving positive change is evident in both my design work and philanthropic efforts, making her a leader in blending art, sustainability, and social impact.
I have started Thread Fashion Future, a nonprofit dedicated to passing down the timeless skills of sewing, knitting, and crochet — free of charge — to the next generation. I believe fashion can be life-changing, building confidence, creativity, and purpose. From covering transportation costs to lending sewing machines,I make sure everyone has the chance to learn, create, and shine.
Most importantly having a flexibility to adapt to the changes the life throws at us.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in the hills of Woodland Hills, and love hiking behind my house! There are so many beautiful trails with incredible views.
I love taking people to Cafe 27 where we can sit, eat Mediterranean food and enjoy the nature.
Walk to the Hollywood sign is an amazing experience as well. Love walks on Malibu Beach and having dinner at Mastro’s while looking over the Pacific Ocean. When I get visited by my friends and family, I usually ask them what they want to see and do. Los Angeles has so much to offer and it’s good to ask what are the preferences for them.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
