We had the good fortune of connecting with Goyo Club and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi goyo, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
goyo club is an artist archive channel and community based in los angeles. we curate and archive local artists in family owned spaces every week.

When we started goyo club, our focus was on blending local artists with local businesses. We wanted to highlight the small, family-owned businesses around us—places we often pass by without much thought but that provide the most comfort. We wondered if these everyday spaces could become the most incredible backdrops for archiving different kinds of art forms around us, such as live music and DJing, giving local artists a stage to showcase their work. Our goal is to archive and curate the art of this era, and we plan to expand our series to include many different artists, such as dancers, painters, and more.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are a community-driven brand, and goyo club exists to introduce new local artists every week. Without the support of our community, we wouldn’t be able to create a stage for up-and-coming artists. When we archive an artist who is just beginning their music career and they gain new fans and connections through our platform, we feel like we’re fulfilling our mission. Beyond archiving, we also strive to connect artists with fans through in-person events, creating meaningful, real-world interactions.

With just one click, we can now discover artists from the other side of the world, yet real-life connections feel smaller and more distant than ever. We want to shift that. Going to a local show to watch neighborhood artists perform, visiting a small gallery to experience the works of local painters, genuinely supporting them, and then ending the day at a local bar, sharing those experiences with friends—this is the cultural flow we aim to revive.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As we have roots in Korea, we’d love to invite our friends to K-Town. We think it’s a culturally and activity-wise fascinating place. For dinner, we’d start with a bowl of seolleongtang at Young Dong Seolleongtang, one of the oldest spots for this traditional Korean ox bone soup in LA. After that, we’d head to Manmi Dang, the oldest Korean bakery in K-Town, for dessert, followed by ice cream at Bumsan Ice Cream. Then, we’d stop by DGM for some soju in a pocha-style outdoor bar setting before ending the night with an espresso martini at Normandie Bar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, we want to give a shoutout to the fans of goyo club—without them, we wouldn’t exist. Supporting local artists and the community may seem simple, but it requires genuine care and dedication to those around us. Every time we introduce a local artist, we are deeply grateful to the fans who trust us and engage with our work. Our hope is to continue growing this community so we can shine a light on even more emerging local artists and give them the recognition they deserve.

We’d also like to give a special shoutout to our amazing mixing engineer, Jorge Alayo. Jorge came on board when we launched the Finding Record series and played a key role in shaping the audio tone of our projects. Thanks to his expertise, we’ve been able to share the music of countless local artists with our fans in the best possible way. While singers and producers often get the spotlight, mixing engineers tend to go unnoticed. We hope our fans take a moment to appreciate Jorge for his invaluable contribution to shaping the sound of goyo club.
