We had the good fortune of connecting with Grace Pei and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Grace, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
One habit that has significantly contributed to my success in the couture bridal industry over the past decade is the practice of active listening. This involves paying close attention not only to the wisdom of renowned figures like Oscar De La Renta and Coco Chanel but also to my clients. Understanding their desires, concerns, and hesitations has been crucial. By continually seeking to improve based on feedback and advice from those who are more experienced and successful, I’ve found that there’s no upper limit to how much one can enhance their work and service. Listening opens up numerous possibilities for collaboration and opportunities, allowing for consistent growth and improvement, one step at a time.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Navigating life as a first-generation immigrant in the U.S., an Asian female business owner, and a mother of two, presents its unique set of challenges. Balancing the roles of a savvy entrepreneur, a devoted wife, mother, and daughter is a complex task. Our family has faced numerous obstacles, but with the unwavering support from our community, we’ve managed to overcome them.

My advice for weathering life’s storms is to surround yourself with wise and supportive people, foster a sense of community, and hold onto strong beliefs. These elements are crucial in overcoming challenges.

Our brand story at JINZA Bridal Couture and JINZA Oriental Couture (https://jinzaoriental.com), which specializes in premier hand-crafted and embroidered Asian traditional attire for weddings and formal events, is deeply rooted in giving back to the community that has supported us. Our clientele is diverse, spanning various cultures and professions, with a special place in our hearts for doctors and nurses. We offer dedicated services and programs for these healthcare professionals, hoping to serve them as a token of gratitude.

The mission of our brand, “Be Proud Once More,” resonates with our belief in taking pride in one’s identity, regardless of cultural or racial background. It’s about believing in oneself and embracing who you are. This philosophy guides us not only in business but also in our personal lives, as we strive to be the best versions of ourselves for our families, our clients, and our community.

As one of the premier bridal shops in both San Francisco and Los Angeles, with over 20 years of experience serving these vibrant communities, we constantly strive for excellence. Our role as custom wedding dress designers is not just about creating beautiful gowns; it’s about bringing each client’s unique vision to life and continually improving our craft. This dedication to our clients’ dreams and our relentless pursuit of perfection is what sets us apart in the bustling bridal scenes of San Francisco and Los Angeles. We pride ourselves on not just meeting but exceeding the expectations of those who entrust us with such a significant part of their special day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
JINZA Couture Bridal is ideally located on La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles, an area renowned for its array of famous interior designers. Just a stone’s throw away is the vibrant Melrose Avenue, known for its stylish clothing boutiques, trendy spots like Alfred Coffee and Urth Cafe, and a variety of inviting restaurants. A visit to our bridal boutique can be perfectly complemented by exploring these local landmarks and indulging in some delightful desserts on Melrose Avenue, making for a truly enjoyable and memorable experience.

I would guide her through places that have been a source of our creative inspiration, places that encourage deeper thought, consideration, and a stronger connection to the world around us. These are spaces where ideas flourish and where we can immerse ourselves in experiences that refine our perspectives and enhance our creativity, essential for our journey in both life and business.

Additionally, I’d take her to my friend’s music studio, a special place where he crafts all his music. It’s a creative sanctuary where artistry and inspiration come to life, offering a unique glimpse into the world of music production and the artistic process. This experience would provide a wonderful opportunity to explore another facet of creativity and art.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My journey has been shaped by a myriad of mentors surrounding me – from my family and WIZO, to my competitors, team, and my partner, Jinza Jin. Each person in my circle contributes daily by embodying a focused dedication to their goals and missions. They work tirelessly towards achieving their objectives and, upon reaching them, they give back to the community and enjoy the fruits of their labor. This environment has taught me the invaluable lesson of authenticity and staying true to oneself. I’ve learned that by being genuine, you not only cultivate positive energy but also attract strong support and encouragement from those around you.
