We had the good fortune of connecting with Grigor Abgaryan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Grigor, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I did it not for the pursuit of fame or riches but to be a servant of art. The nostalgia I feel looking back at the film scores that shaped me is the same emotion I want to offer the next generation of story lovers. As an artist if I had nothing to say I wouldn’t be in the arts.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a composer & my art is crafting melodies from the heart. My musical style entails a strong pursuit of lyrical melodies & the traditional film orchestra.

Having studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston for my Bachelor’s degree & then the Royal College of Music in London for my Master’s degree I have had an incredibly vibrant experience in both the contemporary world of music & the classical.
Studying at these two prestigious universities definitely had it’s challenges but each experience pushed me to excel & work beyond my comfort zone which made me a better composer. I overcame many of these challenges with the support of the great friends & now colleagues that I made along the way.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that I am not a composer beholden to any rules but I am a composer that only strives to create art that makes an emotional impression to those who listen.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Firstly no visit to LA is complete without a visit to the beach, namely along the Newport Coast.

A hike with an ocean view would also be on the cards.

Food-wise I would show them some of LA’s great brunch spots, my favorite being a location called Olive & Thyme. Also an amazing BBQ restaurant called Woodranch.

I would also say doing a studio tour of Warner Bros would be great.

Possibly a trip to Vegas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I can name so many musicians & composers that have supported & encouraged me but none of this would be remotely possible had it not been for the steadfast support of my parents. The risks that they’ve taken for me to be on this journey cannot be put into words & they always have my endless love & admiration.
