We had the good fortune of connecting with Hailey Jayne Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hailey Jayne, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
There are many factors that go into my success. Work ethic, determination, and scheduling and planning
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
How I became a model and influencer was by accident really… In 2016 my mom started an instagram page for me when I was 5 to post pictures and keep a record of my life. She would post me in cute outfits and my posts started to gain likes and comments and in turn my page started to gain followers. It wasn’t long before companies started reaching out to me to promote them. It is really nice because she is a photographer, so we work together on collaborations. We talk about what we want to do creatively and then take pictures or videos and edit for the companies we work with. I like it because although I am only 10 she takes my ideas into consideration. If they aren’t the best for that specific collaboration she will give suggestions on how we can change it and make it work.
My mom always says I have a crazy work ethic. I have an A average in school, do competitive cheer, model and influence for many companies and I also have a monthly column in Katwalk Kids Fashion Magazine called “Hailey’s Hotlist” discussing fashion trends and designers
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love where I live. I am not far from two big cities; Pittsburgh and Cleveland. I love to go to Museums and restaurants. I love going on the Pittsburgh incline which overlooks the city. Of course shopping and a trip to the nail salon is a must! We travel a lot for cheer and I have visited some amazing cities like Nashville, Indianapolis, Niagara Falls and Toronto just to name a few. I am hopeful and excited to get back to traveling this year after the Pandemic.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shout out to my family. There are always supporting me in anything I want to try and achieve in life . Thank you dad, mom and Mason. I love you!
