We had the good fortune of connecting with Hanna Gothberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hanna, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand HAGO is definitely trusting my gut and don’t listen to what everyone thinks. Some people will give you great advice that pusch you in the right direction in your career. But sometimes it’s not the right way for you to go. You might need to take the long way to reach your success. Be true to yourself and don’t let anyone define you.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I stared to sing when I was very young. I spent a lot of hours singing, practicing and dancing in my room in a small town in Sweden. Already, I knew I wanted to be a rockstar. I wrote my first song, witch was about my grandpa who passed away. It was a really personal and hard song to write for me. But then I realized that I wanted to make music with a lot of emotions. I started to release my own music when I was 19. I had a lot of selfdoubt and didn’t think anyone would like it. But I hade so wrong! Even the radio loved it and wanted to play it. After that, It’s been quite a journey. Radio plays, one song made it to. a really big Spotify playlist and I was one of the finalists in a big radio show in Sweden.
When I turned 22 I decided to move to Los Angeles. It was my first time there and right away it felt like home. All the people with hopes and dreams that you meet on the streets everyday. It made me realize that I’m not alone. Even if it’s a lot of competition I think we all can support each other. So, there I was. In the middle of Hollywood. Singing everyday. A true dream. I studied at Musicians Institute and everyday was nothing but hard work.
Today, I’m releasing music as HAGO. An independent artist who’s about to take over first of all, Sweden haha. And then, hopefully the world. My biggest dream is to tour all over the world. I’m not giving up until I’m standing there. In front of thousands of people.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First of all, we would go to Malibu and have lunch at Malibu Farm. Then walk along the beach and take the car to Venice, Santa Monica and definitely grab a burger from Shake Shack, my all time favorite. We would spend the night at Baked Potato, Watching great musicians perform. Damn, I love that place. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely want to dedicate my shoutout to Musicians Institute in Hollywood. Without my education I wouldn’t got the opportunity to work with the things I love. The teachers and staff at MI really helped me understand the importance of working really hard and be your own boss.
