Meet Hanna Rose Hunt | Actress & Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hanna Rose Hunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hanna Rose, what’s your definition for success?
The world likes to tell us what success looks like regardless of the field we’re in. I was lucky enough to be raised by parents who were hard working and resilient. Everyone has their own strengths and I believe that finding what yours are and focusing on that can help you not compare yourself to others. Another helpful piece of advice my father told me once was if you find something in your business that’s lacking, it can be more effective to find someone who IS good at it. I believe in learning and growing as much as you can as a business owner, but when you are looking to learn more or to strengthen a part of your company, collaborating with others can be extremely beneficial! It’s important to have a community!!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I pride myself on creating a business that caters to everyone. As a photographer, I love to work with all types of people on all types of projects. I believe that photography is not just art, but can also be incredibly uplifting. As a society, we are inundated with billboards and ads of supermodels and TikTok stars. This can cause the majority of people in the world to lack the confidence to believe they belong in front of a camera. The biggest concern of most of my clients is whether they will feel or look awkward. I have curated a company that’s main goal is to make each and every client feel comfortable and beautiful! We tailor each photoshoot and project to the vision of the client or business and no photoshoot will be exactly the same. This is very important when it comes to branding yourself or your company. I believe there shouldn’t be a formula photographers follow, because each shoot ends up looking exactly the same–where’s the individuality and fun in that?! It was very hard at first being that many photographers focus on how many clients they have or how much money they bring in, but for me, what makes my job so worth it is the people that I work with. I love being able to make my client more confident and happier than when they came to me!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
WOW! What a hard question for someone living in NYC! I love that you can live in New York and never stop exploring. I always tell people NYC may be fast pasted and chaotic but you will NEVER be bored! There are the typical tourist spots in New York, but if I were showing someone around the city, I would start the day with an early morning walk to the bagel shop (I love Broadway Bagel on the Upper West Side! It’s incredibly underrated) and then to one of the many amazing coffee shops. There are so many to choose from but I love Ralphs Coffee (Flatiron District on 5th Ave) and Maman! I would take them to Central Park and explore the historical sites or hidden history on various streets. I’d take them to dinner at one of my favorites like Katsuya, Jue Lan Club, Ippudo for Ramen, or Jacob’s Pickles! We could explore SoHo and pick up Mochidoki (mochi ice cream!) We could go to one of the amazing museums in the city as well! Then at sunset we could bring a picnic or food to a rooftop/go to a rooftop bar and enjoy the sun going down while looking at the skyline!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I find that my close friends and family have been instrumental in my success when it comes to their encouragement and support. But, what’s really helped is finding a community of creatives and motivated friends who not only encourage me, but push me to live up to the my greatest potential. It’s so easy as a business owner and creative to feel the imposter syndrome or to become overwhelmed, but having people who continuously remind you of your worth and show you that you CAN do it is invaluable! I’ve found some great freelance creatives as well, being a part of the Golden Hour Guild here in NYC.
