Meet Haoquan Wang | Digital Visual Artist & Creative Design

We had the good fortune of connecting with Haoquan Wang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Haoquan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My career in creativity and art stems from my love for beauty and visuals. I once conducted research in the field of human-computer interaction, but by chance, I discovered a passion for digital art. I was drawn to the beautiful virtual environments, and I developed a deep interest in the images generated by computers. It was not until I began studying the Unreal Engine that I started to express my understanding of beauty through virtual world design and CGI. I revel in curating things within the game engine, documenting, and sharing the feeling.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What makes me unique is my positioning I would say. I always stand at the intersection of differnet field, art and technology, tradinitnal media and emerging media, digital art and fashion, etc. I am really pround of the creative digtial campaign demo by using Unreal Engine. It showcase my talent and abilities to work for brands and designers to promote their work in an interesting, immersive and emerging way. I am always open-minded and keep learning new things, The process is really hard because no one really shows you the way of making things, you have to learn everything, which is time-consuming. You have to spend time on experimenting things, making mistakes, learning from mistakes, and polishing your work to be greater. The most valuabe lesson I learned along the way is be patient, and stay consistent.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I base in New York, so it is a great place to hang around and so many things happening hear. I would say I will bring my friends to Brooklyn, williamsburg, check out some vintage stores because I love thrifting. I learn clothing and culture from vintage. I will also bring my friend to Metrograph, an independent cinema that always curates greatest movies of all time.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First thing first, I wanna shout out to Kanye West, who always inspires me to be honest to myself and love myself, and also artistically be creative and be brave to do whatever I wanna do. I won’t be in the creative/art industry without him. The way he blend music, art, entertainment, fashion, and technology and his contribution to the culture, are the role models to me, and I wish I can show and tell the story like him. I would say my style, my art taste, the way I make project and my business model are all from him. He the real teacher.
Besides Ye, which is really far away from me, I also want to shout to my professor from NYU, Todd Braynt. He is the real OG and godfather of Virtual Production, I learn motion capture, Unreal Engine(My art tool), and Virtual Production from him. He also shows me how to make a business and make a living in the industry. He also teaches me how to stay optimistic and wait for the opportunities to come.

Thank you, Ye, thank you Todd.
