We had the good fortune of connecting with Harris Yu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Harris, how does your business help the community?
At VINGUYS, we aim to create a deeper connection between people and nature, fostering harmony through the joy of birdwatching. Our mission extends beyond just providing bird feeders — we offer a unique way for bird enthusiasts to engage with nature, especially through technology that makes birdwatching easier and more accessible.

Our products help raise awareness about bird conservation, allowing users to discover and identify a wide range of bird species in their own backyards. For many birdwatchers, this offers a new and exciting way to enjoy the hobby, while also contributing to the protection of our feathered friends.

Additionally, VINGUYS provides an excellent form of entertainment for the elderly, offering them an enjoyable and calming activity that can be enjoyed in their own homes. For families, birdwatching through our products creates an opportunity to strengthen bonds and share meaningful moments together, fostering both emotional connection and a deeper appreciation for nature.

In essence, VINGUYS helps bring people closer to nature, promotes conservation, and serves as a tool for family connection, all while offering a relaxing, enjoyable experience.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The experience in Texas was a turning point. I realized that while there was already some care for birds through birdhouses and similar efforts, there was a lack of ways to showcase these efforts. Traditional birdhouses are great, but they don’t do much in terms of visibility or promotion. If we could find a way to capture bird activities and use intelligent bird recognition, it would be a big step forward in promoting biodiversity efforts by local organizations and governments.

This idea made me think about how we could help birds while also allowing people to capture these special moments. I observed the evolution of the birding market, especially with the rise of smart bird feeders in North America, and saw clear growth. However, I also saw an opportunity to create a unique product—a smart bird feeder that not only excels in functionality but also has aesthetic appeal and a story to tell.

the most difficult challenge for me is creating a standout feature–our unique two-tone design. While most feeders on the market are plain in color, we wanted to create something more than just a functional product—something that doubles as a beautiful garden decoration. By blending cutting-edge technology with aesthetic appeal, Vinguys makes feeding and observing birds more engaging and enjoyable, turning it into the centerpiece of any outdoor space.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
1. Channel Islands National Park (Southern California)
Channel Islands is one of those places that often gets overlooked, but it’s an absolute hidden gem. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but if you’re not bothered by a boat trip, it’s totally worth it. You can take a trip out with Island Packers from Ventura, and once you’re out there, the birdwatching is incredible. You can spot pelagic birds like shearwaters, petrels, and boobies, and if you’re lucky, you might even see the Island Scrub-Jay, which is endemic to the islands. It’s one of the few places in the world where you can find this bird, and that alone makes the trip special. And of course, there are the adorable Channel Island Foxes that make for a nice bonus on your adventure.

2. Morro Bay (Central California)
Morro Bay is one of my favorite spots, hands down. It’s a great location for shorebirds and waterfowl, but what really makes it stand out is the stunning Morro Rock that looms over the bay. There’s something magical about watching birds in such a beautiful setting. The birding here is phenomenal, and the views are just as impressive. It’s one of those places where you can just sit and take in the beauty of nature, while spotting everything from pelicans to sandpipers.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to Cathy, our CEO. Her leadership, vision, and dedication have been a driving force behind VINGUYS from day one. She’s been the heart of the company, guiding us with not only business acumen but also a genuine passion for our mission. Cathy’s support and mentorship have been crucial to our growth, and her influence extends across every aspect of the company.

A special shoutout also goes to our talented designer, Alex, based in California. His design work has helped shape VINGUYS into what it is today. His deep understanding of both form and function, combined with a love for nature, ensures our products are both beautiful and effective. Alex’s designs reflect our core values of connecting people to nature in a harmonious way.

Lastly, I want to thank our entire team. Every member of VINGUYS plays an essential role in making our vision a reality, from the engineers to the marketing team, customer service, and beyond. Together, we’ve built something truly special.
