We had the good fortune of connecting with Harry Bagramian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Harry, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We saw a need and we wanted to play a part in making it better. There are so many of kids in need in the foster care system and underserved population that need to feel seen and loved right here in Southern California. So we decided to start celebrating local kids in need on their birthdays and providing them joy and hope. Our mission was and still is to change the world, one child at a time.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets us apart from others is that we are 100% volunteer based. This is all of our passions. We sacrifice time each day and week and month to pour into others so that they will be blessed. This has caught on like wildfire and hundreds and hundreds of amazing people, groups, schools, etc have joined in. It’s not easy to start with nothing, but when you have the will and determination to see things through it’s amazing to watch the growth that can happen. We’ve learned so much along the way in our 7.5 years, in fact we are always seeking advice and wisdom from others. That’s one of our strengths is that we realize we all have strengths and weaknesses and the secret is when you bring people in who are specialized in specific areas instead of thinking you can do it all, then you are stronger and better off for it. Project Giving Light is so much stronger now because of our amazing team and supporters.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love good food and a fun time! We love to go to the beach, a day trip to La for some fun shopping and restaurants, and of course Disneyland is always one of our family favorites. We love Mario’s Mexican food in Huntington Beach. A Restaurant is the best food and environment in Newport Beach. We love Jon and Vinny’s in LA for the best pizza and Alfred Coffee for the best matcha and lattes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God. We get our vision, guidance and strength from God. Project Giving Light is a Christian organization and we are always leaning on God to direct our steps and show us the kids He wants us to reach. Secondly, would be our amazing PGL team of supporters and donors who continually play a part in spreading the word and generously give to continue pushing this mission forward.
