We had the good fortune of connecting with HATCH and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi HATCH, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The three co-founders of HATCH are: Akarad Tachavatcharapa, Nara Latip, and Daniel Shemtob. Their mission is to make socializing as delicious as possible. By combining their Singaporean, Thai, Indonesian, and Jewish backgrounds, they frequently reference ingredients personal to their cultures to create playful dishes.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The cross-cultural approach was not well received when the restaurant first opened. It took some time for people to catch on our take on traditional Japanese cooking fused with bold international flavors.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
HATCH is a modern Japanese restaurant that celebrates yakitori, creative plates and curated drinks. We value quality by using only premium ingredients, such as locally sourced organic chicken. Our beverage program includes handcrafted cocktails, a wide array of sakes and rare Japanese whiskies.

The vision is clear: great food, good times.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The restaurant is an homage to the diverse background of people coming together to build something special.
