Meet Heather Warren | Personal Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Warren and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Through my health and fitness journey I really started to build my own meals to cater to my health and wellness needs. I studied the nutrition values of food and how food was affecting my body. As people saw the shift in my body they began asking for my dietary advice and if I would be interested in cooking for them. In a short time a made a very risky decision to leave the safety net of working for the same business for 20 years.
I realized I had the talent and passion to start something that I could call my own. I wanted the freedom to fuel this business and share my love of health and food by feeding people.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hezzcooks is an individual meal prep, and catering service. What sets me a part for the others in the industry is that I speacialize in each individuals personal food journey.
This is not a diet plan. This is a way for people to eat fresh, healthy food that they will enjoy.
Not every person is the same and they shouldn’t have to eat packaged meals that come from a factory to meet their health goals. I come from over 20 years of restaurant experience. I worked with amazing teams of people where I learned culinary skills and menu development while studying nutrition and the benefits of combining the right foods for the maximum benefit. At the end of the day I want to feed people healthy delicious food. That is what feeds my soul.
The greatest challenge is being in a pool of other meal-prep busineeses and fiding ways to stand out.
I personally connect with each person I’m cooking for. I hear what they want and need, food likes and dislikes as well as allergies and create individual meal plans for them.
I have been lucky enough to have many clients refer me to cater private parties all the way from Weddings in Ventura to retreats in Joshua Tree. The catering is an extension of Hezzcooks that I am definitley growing right now and constantly finding ways to get my name and product out there.
Word of mouth is always the best form of marketing and always will be. I love that I meet so many people and connect with them through my food and grow the relationship and business base.
Food is my love language and nothing makes me happier than when I see how much someone enjoys my food.
I find myself holding my breath as I watch someone take thier first bite.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The beauty of Pasadena is that you are so close the Los Angeles and all of the best offerings. Obviously, we need to get our coffee from either Boy and the Bear in Pasadena or venture off to Habitat in Eagle Rock for some amazing light breakfast fare before beginning our day.
We would definitely need to visit a local farmer’s market in either La Canada or Silverlake and let them see all of the local produce and market goods grown and made locally in our communities.
I would find a way to spend as much time out doors whether we decide to head out to Santa Monica where we can enjoy the beach and some sun or go to the Grove for some shopping.
We would definitley need to eat at Malbec Pasadena for some great argentenian food and a great wine selection.

And end an evening walking through Old Town Pasadena and enjoying the beautiful scenary and historic architecture.

My daughter Avery who is the best sous chef that I could ever ask for. My very best friends and biggest cheerleaders Danielle and Breezie.
