We had the good fortune of connecting with Helen Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Helen, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in Bath, England and grew up half there, plus in BC Canada. Due to having to move a lot and change schools constantly, it def made me learn to adapt quickly & make friends easily. I was always friends with the “new kid” because I always knew how that felt. I’ve also lived in many cities & countries so I have definitely grown up to love and respect all kinds of different cultures.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey as an artist and creative has been a lifelong exploration deeply rooted in my upbringing. Raised in an environment that celebrated the theatre, film, and television, I was fortunate to be immersed in a world of creativity from an early age. This early exposure ignited my passion for the arts, leading me to venture into modeling and acting.
However, it was during the challenging times of the pandemic that I truly discovered the transformative power of creativity. Turning to content creation, I learned that no matter the situation, art has the remarkable ability to ground and inspire me.
It became a constant source of solace and expression, reinforcing the idea that creativity can thrive in any circumstance. The name “Helen Of Joy” was given to me from a dear friend who was suffering from cancer at the time, and after that it just kind of stuck as my brand name.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend came to visit me, I’d be eager to give them a warm welcome. We’d definitely start with a Disney day, where I could show them the ropes and share the magic of the theme parks.
Since I’m a beach lover, we’d have two fantastic options: a scenic drive up to Malibu along the iconic Pacific Coast Highway, or a journey down south to explore the beauty of Laguna Beach and San Diego’s coastal treasures. It’s the best of both worlds, combining enchantment and seaside adventures.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, a group of resilient individuals, truly deserve my heartfelt thanks. We’ve moved countless times, embracing the uncertainty of new places and cultures. This nomadic lifestyle, though challenging, has undeniably shaped my character, making me more adaptable, open-minded, and worldly. Through their unwavering support and shared adventures, my family has been the cornerstone of my growth, teaching me the value of diversity and the beauty of the ever-changing world.
