Hi Houman, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
You never give up! You may adapt your strategy and take creative approaches to address challenges as they arise, but you always persevere. Every situation that presents itself does so with a purpose, as there is always a specific solution to each circumstance.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was born into a real estate family and gained exposure to the business from an early age by spending time with my father and uncles. During high school, I began working at the firm over the summers, and as a senior, I participated in an internship program that allowed me to work daily in my area of interest. I later attended USC, and on days without classes, I served as an assistant property manager. After graduating, I transitioned into a full time role in real estate.

While working with family is never easy, it proved to be an invaluable experience. My family’s high standards and expertise pushed me to excel, and I was held to an even higher standard because of our personal ties. Ultimately, this environment enabled me to learn every aspect of the business, equipping me with a solid foundation for my career.

In 2005, I co-founded a boutique firm, BRC Advisors, with Jim Huang. After a decade of building a firm, I sought a broader, global platform and network, leading me to join corporate America. Today, we are recognized as leaders in the high street retail segment, with a brand synonymous with luxury. Our focus is on delivering unparalleled services at the highest level, and we take pride in our continued growth and success in a niche, challenging environment.

What sets us apart is our unique philosophy- we don’t simply view this as a real estate business, but rather as an integrated approach that encompasses a comprehensive way of life. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would enjoy going to some of the top restaurants in the city, including my personal favorites Angelini Osteria, e Baldi, Scopa in Venice, the Ivy, Baltaire, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Mr Chow, and Craigs. For an extended visit, I would recommend venturing out for a local hike at spots like Franklin Canyon or exploring Montecito for a change of scenery. A day trip to Malibu or Palisades Village is also a great option.
