We had the good fortune of connecting with Hunter Hudson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hunter, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Expressing one’s self through various art forms has always been super intriguing to me. Art gives everyone a blank canvas to express themselves without limitations, through different mediums.

Acting is my way to express myself. I remember when I was growing up I would be so incredibly inspired watching all the great classics and performers of the past. Being so immersed when watching movies I would create my own characters and write my own stories trying to emulate my heroes.

Dreaming of being able to one day do what my hero’s did by telling compelling stories that left an audience with a message.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Acting is my obsession. Ever sense I was a child I have always had such a passion for movies and telling stories in front of an audience.

I try and watch a movie every night and have been successful at that for the last few years. I love watching movies, I love talking about movies, I love anything to do with movies, and the art of acting.

Growing up on old VHS tapes and DVD’s the same passion I had for movies then has only grown immensely, over time.

Not coming from a family in the entertainment Industry, I have had to teach myself as well as learn from other working actors about the industry. To expect a LOT of no’s before ever hearing a yes. Before ever getting a call back, or a chance to work with great actors, and directors on a movie or television set.

The daunting reality of pursuing a career in Hollywood might scare some people from chasing after there dream. The horrifying age old stories of artist who spent there whole life chasing a hopeless dream in the end to never see it come to fruition. I believe you can either let that statistic do one of two things, Scare you or encourage you to work harder. For me my passion and drive for acting will always be pushing me to not give up on what’s most important to me and that’s doing what I love, story telling. I’m my happiest when acting, it’s my vice. I at times feel I must refrain my excitement about anything acting related as I can be overly passionate about it

Working with Great directors, actors and writers is the goal, until then I can only control what I can control and that’s developing my skills as an actor to one day to achieve what I Believe are incredibly moving performances by the actors I’ve been inspired by. I will continue pursuing this craft everyday. I’m eager to learn and grow. I enjoy learning it’s what gets me most excited. I know this is what I will do for the rest of my life wether it’s on the biggest stage in front of a large audience or no audience at all, this is what I love to do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My Older brother Forrest is my best friend. He visits me a handful of times a year from Florida.

Some of our favorite things when he visits include going out to eat, trying new restaurants ordering way too much food and giving it our own rating. Keeping track of all the amazing restaurants we’ve gotten to eat at over the years. Regularly going to Los Feliz Theatre, or Quinton Tarantino’s theater The New Beverly Cinema, watching classics we grew up on. Visiting the Griffith observatory at sunset, going for runs around lake Hollywood, and hiking Runyon canyon, going on the universal studios Hollywood tour. Capturing all of our experiences together on Film cameras developing them years later looking back and reminiscing, So much story can be told in one picture. It’s the simple things in life that make us happy.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Moving to Hollywood I wanted to have the opportunity to work with some of the best acting coaches in the world.

I have the great privilege of being professionally trained by a handful of world renowned acting coaches, One currently being Ivana Chubbuck.

Ivana Chubbuck’s 12 step technique has taught me to use my own insecurities, traumas, fears, emotions and vulnerability to make effective and bold choices as an actor. To win in spite of and because of past and present challenges, to use them as fuel and infusing them into the material in front of me for a character, and going after an Overall Objective Within the environment of the script. Ivana has taught me that every scene is high stakes, every scene is life or death.

First working with an amazing mentor and acting coach Aleks Popovic, I learned so much about myself as not just an actor but a human. Aleks Popovic was the first formal training I had ever gotten for acting. He really helped me develop as an actor and pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone. Encouraging me to make instinctual choices and to forget any “idea” I had for how a scene should look and rather live in the scene. Allowing accidents to be blessings in scenes that can’t often be replicated. Aleks helped me lean into my biggest insecurities and rather use them as my greatest strengths, teaching me so much of what it means to “Let go” as an actor, he consistently reminds me that “Actors are only worth the choices they make, the wrong choice will always be greater than no choice at all”

I have so much gratitude for having the privilege of training with such amazing coaches and mentors who are so invested in my development as an actor and share the same passion for the art of acting.
