Meet Indi Forde | Songwriter, Producer, Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Indi Forde and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Indi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When we started out, it had nothing to do with money or financial recompense. Ours was a purely creative endeavor and we didn’t even consider monetizing. But as we learned our craft and got really good at what we do, the financial side started to emerge as people could see that we would add value to their show, event, project etc etc. Once this switch happened we were careful to make sure the lure of riches wouldn’t damage our passion for creation and to make sure the art came before money!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We describe ourselves as ‘genre fluid’, so we don’t like to be confined to a box and never think a song we’re working on won’t work for our brand, as our brand is ‘we play whatever we want’. This has led to difficulties in getting on certain stations or lineups as we’re unclassifiable! But this thing that some see as detrimental is the same thing that attracted our fans to us. They’re going to put on an IATV album and never know what they’re gonna get…BUT, whatever they do get is gonna sound great and it’s gonna sound like us! If I was coming at this from a purely business perspective and offering advice to others, I’d say pick a niche and stick to it. But personally, for my own sanity, I couldn’t think of anything worse. Our journey has taken us from England to recording an album in Los Angeles, playing shows, and meeting people from all over the world, just by being true to ourselves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would immediately head over to Cole’s Downtown for a French Dip sandwich. This was my first ever meal in LA after a long 12hr flight and it really hit the spot. Hit the Hollywood sign for a hike and visit the observatory whilst there obviously. I would go for drinks in The North End Hollywood, owned by my good friend Terri Cortines who is a true diamond and the best bartender in LA. To Venice Beach, which is a vibe unto itself, but where you’ll also find a hidden radio station, Radio Venice TV, run from an apartment on the beachfront by Michael Jost and Rae Stanton, the nicest guys that really champion underground music. We’d be going to see all our friends play every night, from Zaro to Eliot Luxion to Jonny from Panorama!! There’s just too much to do 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to say my creative brothers who worked on helping me achieve success musically, which, to me, means having a great body of work that I’m proud to have created and shared with the world! Matt Singleton and Joe Cripps, who are my old school friends and bandmates from Indi and The Vegas, and Zaro Vega, our executive producer who helped us realize our artistic vision.
