Meet Inés Kayali | Film Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Inés Kayali and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Inés, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Personally, I believe that risk-taking is an essential aspect of growth and development, both in life and in one’s career. It is through taking risks that we are able to step out of our comfort zones and push ourselves to reach our full potential.
In my own life, I have experienced the positive impact of taking risks. I realized from a young age that constantly playing it safe was limiting my opportunities for growth and success. I started to take calculated risks, such as applying for a competitive internship or studying abroad, and I found that these experiences helped me gain new skills and knowledge. The internship gave me the opportunity to take part in a documentary where I got the chance to cross the Atlantic Ocean on a sailing boat, and studying abroad gave me the chance to become a film producer in Los Angeles. This adventure granted me with great friendships and filmmakers that have become family and with whom I have produced several incredible short films such as “A Masterpiece”, “The Night Hag”, “Endless Death” or “Tabatha”.
Moreover, in my career as a film producer, I am responsible for bringing stories to life on the big screen, and this involves a lot of risks. From choosing the right script to securing funding, every step of the filmmaking process involves a level of risk. However, I have learned that taking risks is essential in this industry. Without risks, there is no growth or innovation. By taking risks, I have been able to push the boundaries and create unique and impactful stories that have resonated with audiences. In addition, taking risks has also allowed me to learn from my failures and use them as valuable lessons in my future projects.
Leaving Spain to pursue my passion for filmmaking was a huge risk, but it has led me to where I am today. It has taught me to trust my instincts and have faith in my abilities. Overall, risk-taking has played a significant role in shaping my life and career as a film producer, and I believe it is essential for anyone looking to make a mark in the creative industry.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others in my field is my passion and dedication to telling impactful and meaningful stories. I believe that film has the power to inspire, and I am constantly seeking out projects that align with this belief.
My journey to becoming a film producer was not easy, but it was incredibly rewarding. I started out as an intern at a small production company in Spain, working long hours and doing whatever tasks were assigned to me. But I never lost sight of my goal to one day produce films. I moved to LA to take a chance in the American film industry and I worked my way up, learning everything I could about the industry and building relationships with talented individuals who shared my vision. I faced many challenges along the way, from securing funding for projects to navigating the ever-changing landscape of the film industry. But I never let these obstacles discourage me, instead, I used them as opportunities to grow and learn.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of collaboration and teamwork. Producing a film requires a lot of moving parts and it’s crucial to have a strong team that is dedicated and passionate about the project. I’ve also learned the value of persistence and never giving up. There were many times when a project seemed impossible, but I kept pushing forward and eventually found a way to make it happen.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that we are more than just filmmakers, we are storytellers with a purpose. We want to inspire others through the power of storytelling. I am excited to continue on this journey and see where it takes me and my team!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friends was visiting LA i would like to show them everything, from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood to the beautiful beaches and cultural landmarks. I would start the trip off in the heart of Los Angeles by exploring the iconic Hollywood Boulevard. Walk down the famous Walk of Fame and spot the stars of our favorite celebrities. Then, head to the TCL Chinese Theatre and finish off the day taking a hike to the iconic Hollywood Sign for some spectacular views of the city.
Another spot I don’t think we would miss would be Universal Studios for some thrilling rides, shows, and attractions. It wold be essential to visit the beaches of Los Angeles and the Santa Monica Pier or Venice Beach. I wouldn’t want her to leave without visiting the artsy and trendy neighborhood of Silver Lake and stopping by Little Tokyo or Chinatown. Watching the sunset at the iconic Griffith Park is also a must, and I think she wouldn’t wanna go back home without stepping foot in The Grove for some shopping.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to take this opportunity to dedicate my shoutout to Mini Nation Pictures, my LA family. They have been a constant source of support, inspiration, and motivation in my life. In addition, I would like to give a special shoutout to the founder, Michelle Ng. Her leadership and vision have been instrumental in shaping Mini Nation Pictures into the successful production company that it is today. She is not only a talented filmmaker but also a kind and compassionate individual who truly cares about making a difference in the industry through her work. I also want to acknowledge my family at Mini Nation Pictures: Paula Iglesias, Irene Puente, Nicola Varoli, and Tatsuya Ueno, because I wouldn’t have made it this far without their constant support. Each and every one of them brings their unique talents and perspectives to the table and help with the creation of powerful and meaningful films.
Lastly, I want to give a shoutout to all the independent filmmakers and creatives out there who are tirelessly pursuing their passion and making their voices heard. It takes courage and perseverance to break into the film industry.
