We had the good fortune of connecting with Isa Antonetti and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isa, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was raised in Rochester, New York to a big Latinx family. My parents are both musicians and singers, as are most of my relatives, and my family has a Latin band. Growing up surrounded by music and an extended family that was always around, I developed an incredible support system and a love for singing. Family has always been what I can count on and the work they have put into me and my future keeps me motivated to succeed for myself and everyone in my life.  My father played and produced with many Latin artists, which introduced me to the music industry. I began on that path and eventually did my first musical in high school. When I got the opportunity to sing, act, and dance, I knew that was where my passion lay and I’ve been on stage and on screen ever since!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am so grateful to be able to say I am a singer and actor, pursuing my passions professionally. I am fortunate to be very diverse in my background which has opened up a lot of opportunities for me. I have performed in the New York City Center’s Off-Broadway Production of Evita and a Broadway tribute at the Majestic Theater with incredible Broadway talents including Adrienne Warren and Josh Groban. Having my 54 Below debut on their Latin night was also an incredible experience. I am the lead in the independent film Gift of Fear, proudly bringing awareness to the epidemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous women in America. I am also very proud of the opportunities I had of auditioning for Steven Spielberg, Jon Chu, and Tony Kushner, and working with Stephen Schwartz.

My journey to all of these opportunities has not been linear and has come with lots of challenges and hardships. Financials, access, connections, criticism, and so much more were barriers I faced that I overcame with the support and help of my family. Persistence and making things work by any means necessary has always been the mindset. I think that at the end of the day, you know what is right for yourself, and you need to take the time to hone in on what you want, what you want to do, and what you think is right for you. You can listen to what people say and write down the critiques, but you can always put the notebook away. I am going to look back on those notes when I need to, but I am also always going to trust myself. I want to share the importance of being authentic because it is what sets you apart. No matter what has “worked” for others in the past, you know what is the best version of you and that will carry you the farthest.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am not from LA, so I don’t have too much knowledge of the area! However, when I visited, I had a great time exploring Studio City, seeing live music at Desert 5 Spot, eating my way through Grand Central Market, and experiencing the lgbtq+ community of West Hollywood. I am excited to explore more and love hearing about all the places that others love and recommend.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mom. I can’t begin to explain how much she committed and sacrificed to further my career. The kickstart of my career was thanks to the hard work she was willing to put in with me, hours traveling, and managing she did on my behalf before I acquired representation. I couldn’t ask for more from her and appreciate this opportunity to say thank you to her. I also want to thank my dad for the continued inspiration, love, and support he is always willing to offer, no matter what, and always putting me first. Next, I want to thank my partner Sydney for taking on this 24/7 lifestyle with me, dedicating so much to my career, and loving me unconditionally throughout. Finally, thank you, my friends and family. You are all the greatest fans I could imagine and your love is everything. Thank you for always believing in me.
