Meet Isabel Di Nardo | Wedding Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabel Di Nardo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isabel, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Something most people wouldn’t be aware about when it comes to wedding photography is all the time and work that happens months before as well as weeks after the wedding. Catering to our clients needs and wants for their big day is extremely important so the planning process naturally has to be very thorough. Examples of what this can look like are location visits for test shots, designing a shot list tailored to the couple, preplanning creative posing etc. After we attend the wedding we take home hundreds of photos to sort through for the editing process. This is my personal favourite part. Its always a great feeling delivering the finished product after hours of work and knowing you’re clients are incredibly happy with the results.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Kevin and I both found our passions within the music/modelling industry. We thrive in a creative work environment where collaborative process are free flowing. Working with musical artists to create cohesive visuals for their songs pushes us to explore different mediums and naturally dabble in other areas of the industry ranging from graphic design to set design. We became great friends through our similar dreamy, soft photography style. Assisting each other on multiple projects and helping each other out when needed. Some challenges we have faced is imposter syndrome. I’ve had many instances where a client has cancelled on me last minute leading to frustration as well as inconsistent amount of bookings time to time making me doubt if I had what it took to be a full time photographer. Hearing other photographers I admired speak about feeling the same way made me regain my confidence and understand how to not let the tough times lead to self doubt in my career. Knowing your worth as an artist is such an important element to achieving any goal you set out for yourself and i’m so glad I surrounded myself with people who helped me see that very early on. Another challenge I face is being a perfectionist. This leads me to overthinking when it comes to posting pictures which then leads to a mountain of un-posted content that can overwhelm me. Taking our expertise from our creative work and using it in our wedding business has opened a new world of opportunity to make stunning imagery for people to cherish forever. I would tell any self made photographer to always push yourself to explore different avenues and make a meaningful mark on each image.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Kevin and I have been each others source of encouragement from the beginning of this journey. I would like to shoutout Kevin Nguyen for pushing me to go full time with wedding photography and making it an easy transition.
