We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabelle Fournet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isabelle, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Passion, persistence, open minded. May the task be big or small, do it well, or not at all.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The challenges are ongoing, still overcoming them, and that’s maybe the most important part of the process. “Make your mess the message” as Robin Roberts suggest. As a filmmaker and artist, i represent the contextual present. As the present is in constant change, so are our challenges. Be flexible, go with the flow, worry when necessary, learn always.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would go with the flow, eat a large variety of food, from Korea Town, to Little Japan, little Ethiopia… Los Angeles is a multicultural miracle, anywhere you go, there is something new to explore.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The great Norwegian artist Maya Dannegaard is a master in terms of painting. During more than 15 years I had the chance to share my life and work with her, an abstract craftswoman, philosopher and writer, she is a star in my life. In filmmaking, the movies and documentaries that inspired me are the sole of my career, Thank you all who is making an effort for a better a world.
