Meet Ivan Cloyd | TV Network CEO/ Real Estate Developer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ivan Cloyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ivan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For 18 years, I immersed myself in the world of television—beginning as a young political advocate, evolving into an actor, and eventually being a guest host on the syndicated show “Armstrong Williams: The Rightside Forum” on ABC 7 for 3 years. My journey across these various facets of the media industry provided me with a unique perspective on communication, and the power of influence.
Then, like for many others, COVID-19 changed everything. As the world came to a standstill, I found myself filming for the show “For Life” on ABC, grappling with the same questions of uncertainty and reflection. What could I do with this unprecedented time? What venture could I embark on that I hadn’t had time for before?
The pandemic inspired a shift—a new direction. I decided to create an innovative platform (Quadrant) aimed at transforming job opportunities in Washington, D.C. Quadrant’s goal is to empower people by offering them access to resources, training, and networking opportunities that transcend traditional jobs. The platform aims to foster a community of innovative thinkers and professionals who can explore new career paths, develop entrepreneurial skills, and engage in projects that drive social and economic progress.
My experience in media and advocacy has equipped me with the tools to communicate this vision effectively and inspire others to join me in this mission.
In a world forever altered by the pandemic, it’s crucial to embrace change and seek new ways to empower our communities. This platform is my contribution to that effort—an endeavor to bring about positive, lasting change in the city I call home.
By investing in this platform, which will be a television network serving DC, LA, Atlanta, and Miami. We will pave the way for a future where D.C. is a pioneer and hub for innovation and opportunity. My goal is to create as many private sector jobs as possible.

What should our readers know about your business?
Navigating the business world as a Black man from Washington, D.C., has been a challenging yet rewarding journey. The path to building an empire is rarely straightforward, especially when you start without name recognition or a fully established brand. However, perseverance and a willingness to learn can turn even the most ambitious dreams into reality.
Quadrant started out as a television concept and I realized I needed to master the industry to bring my TV concept to life. What began as a creative endeavor soon transformed into a serious business venture, and I dedicated myself to understanding the intricacies of the television business.
Today, I am proud to announce that we are raising several million dollars to launch our TV network at The Parks at Fletcher Johnson development. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and unwavering belief in our vision. But our success doesn’t stop there. We are also thrilled to be under contract to build over 200 units between Washington, D.C., and Prince George’s County, Maryland. This will provide many jobs before and after construction.
One of the most significant milestones in our journey has been our partnership Partners 4 Equitable Growth. Which has been instrumental in leading the charge to raise over $100 million for Quadrant’s capital raise. Their expertise, dedication, and commitment to equitable growth have been invaluable to our mission, and I am extremely proud of what we have achieved together thus far.
Building two multimillion dollar businesses is never easy, and the road is often fraught with obstacles. But through resilience, strategic partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to our goals, we have made significant strides in both the television and real estate industries. As we continue to grow and expand, I am excited to see what the future holds for Quadrant and the communities we serve.
In the end, it’s not just about building a business; it’s about creating opportunities, fostering innovation, and making a lasting impact. And that is something I am incredibly proud to be a part of.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When a friend comes to town, I like to do more personable hangouts. I’m not particularly into nightclubs, but I do enjoy visiting bars or lounges with a laid-back ambiance. Sometimes maybe bowling, or now going to a Washington Commanders game. Most times the best way to go is with the flow of the day, because you never know what the day will bring.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In the ever-evolving world of real estate development, relationships and guidance can make all the difference. I have been fortunate to cross paths with some remarkable individuals who have provided invaluable advice and connections that have shaped my journey.
One such individual is Donahue Peebles, a visionary real estate developer whose accomplishments and insights have been a beacon for many aspiring developers. Donahue took the time to offer me crucial advice and facilitated a connection with his son, Donahue Peebles III. Together, we have worked on establishing strong partnerships that have furthered our collective goals and aspirations.
Another significant influence on my path has been the book “The Peebles Principles.” This book provides a step-by-step guide to the development process, shedding light on the intricacies and challenges that developers face. Its practical insights have been instrumental in helping me navigate the complexities of the industry.
Additionally, I draw inspiration from the late Reginald Lewis, the first Black billionaire in the United States. His book “Why Should White Guys Have All the Fun?” not only chronicles his incredible journey but also serves as a powerful reminder that success in business is attainable for everyone, regardless of background. Reginald Lewis’s story instilled in me the hope and determination to pursue billion-dollar business ventures in America as a Black man. I am also very thankful to have met his wife Lioda Lewis and was fortunate to have gotten some great business advice.
As I continue to navigate the real estate landscape, I remain committed to fostering partnerships, embracing mentorship, and drawing inspiration from those who have paved the way. The lessons and connections I have gained from luminaries like Donahue Peebles and Reginald Lewis are the cornerstones of my journey, propelling me forward in the pursuit of innovation and excellence in real estate development.
By sharing my experiences and the wisdom imparted by these trailblazers, I hope to inspire and empower others to dream big and achieve greatness in their respective fields. Together, we can build a future where success knows no boundaries.
