We had the good fortune of connecting with Ivan Hruska and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ivan, what makes you happy? Why?
Im happiest most when I get reactions too my work. Playing a show and seeing strangers sing a long to a song and generally seeing the unity and joy music causes is one of the most satisfying feelings in the world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The most important thing you need to have in the music business is patience and persistence. Music and art in general is a very subjective thing. Not everyone is going to love what you do and you don’t gather a fan base overnight. You’re not going to play infront of 500 people if you don’t play in front of 7 people first. It’s important to keep going and not give up even if you don’t succeed at first.

We just recorded our third album with Hollywood Apocalypse -Rather Excessive- and we’re playing a release show at the Whisky a Go Go on May 13th

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Visiting the holy trinity of Sunset Strip places is a must do: Whisky, Viper Room and Rainbow Bar and Grill.
Of course one needs to stroll down Hollywood Blvd – grab a drink at the Frolic Room and see a show at the Pantages.
A lil shopping on Melrose and a trip to the Grove is also very recommended

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m gonna give a shoutout to Rotten Rollin aka Roland Banks who isn’t just our amazing drummer, but one of the most wanted on the planet and also had a great solo career
