We had the good fortune of connecting with J.Outlaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My style is somewhat unorthodox. I structure my records differently then most and I don’t ride waves. I create for the purity of the art. I’m a street journalist reflecting on my reality , this gives my composition substance. I live to love the music and more importantly myself because without true vision and context the music has no meaning. I’m most proud of my determination to thrive,it fuels me to stay consistent. I got where I’m at today by hard work, discipline, staying focused, and most importantly not giving up. Nothing came easy! It took years of artist development. I’ve overcome adversity in it’s finest hour and learned to always have your business in order when it comes to the music business. I want the world to know anything is possible and I’m living proof that when you stay committed to the hustle you get the results you deserve!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Understand the Los Angeles demographics and I don’t recommend anyone to free lance in South Central. I would tell them to hit The valley areas, Hollywood, or Downtown Los Angeles. It’s a few spots I would go to for food recommendations like Momma’s Chicken, Fred’s Burger on 4th Ave and Slauson, Hungry Harold’s or Simply Wholesome on Slauson.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The majority of my life and career I’ve had to endure pain. Through trials and tribulations I was able learn from my own mistakes. Living in Los Angeles has been a burden at times. The city of Los Angles has taught me that lifestyle changes are necessary. When reality sets in you start to understand that daily survival is detrimental. I would like to give a shoutout to everyone because nobody is bigger than the program, myself included! For this part of my journey I have nobody to thank except for myself and the team I personally curated. I am extremely hands on and I’m personally involved in the day to day operations of my business. I would like to give a shoutout to my team and the Producers that help me build my platform and brand.
