We had the good fortune of connecting with Jack Bacow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jack, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I grew up in a small suburban town right outside of Detroit. Most of the boys my age played outdoor sports for fun, therefor I was rarely exposed to creative forms of art. However, that all changed when my parents let me watch the 1939 classic “The Wizard of Oz”. I was in awe after I watched the film, obsessed was an understatement. The colors, the music, those characters were constantly on my mind throughout my childhood. I would recite lines and reenact scenes daily, I even begged for a pair of ruby slippers to wear to pre-school. Ever since then, I became addicted to movies, television, and broadway musicals. As I got older, I realized that was what I wanted to do. My life always had revolved around making people laugh and providing entertainment for everyone around me. I decided to pursue an acting career because I love storytelling. I want young children to have their imagination run wild when I perform. I want adults to get distracted from their daily troubles while embracing my unique humor. Laughter is my drug, there is truly no better feeling than seeing people of all ages and personalities burst into laughing fits. That’s why I chose this career, not for recognition or money. If I wanted that I would’ve became a politician! Acting in this brutal industry is obviously not the easiest career, but nothing is more rewarding than entertaining people who need it most.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My experience with acting has been quite an adventure full of changes, and it’s still just the beginning. When I was a child, I performed in multiple musicals and plays within my local community theater company. I then started taking acting classes for years throughout middle school and high school. I also appeared in weekly video segments for my high school news. In 2016, I moved to Los Angeles where I continued to act and began my college education. I starred in a student short film and graduated with my BFA in Acting during the fall of 2019. After graduation, I signed with my manager and shortly thereafter my agent. Last fall, I performed at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights as a scare actor. Every weekend I would get drenched in fake blood and pretend to run away from a killer. We actually got to perform on the iconic Bates Motel set from the movie “Psycho” which was such a blast. I’m passionate about comedic acting. I love doing voices, impressions, improv, creating original characters, and sketch comedy. In regards to my personality, I consider myself very eccentric and a bit quirky. I’ve never been shy or quiet. I’ve always been bubbly with a big personality, big blonde hair, and a big heart.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles has something for everybody, the options are endless when it comes to showing friends around. My favorite areas are West Hollywood, Malibu, Beverly Hills, Laurel Canyon, and Santa Monica. For me, West Hollywood is THE spot for nightlife. The music, the dancing, the people, and the overall energy is perfect for a fabulous night out with friends to celebrate anything. If I wanted a peaceful relaxed day, exploring Malibu and walking the beach is truly magical. The scenery and views are incredible. It’s the perfect place to escape whenever you need a break from city life. For a brunch or dinner, I personally love fancy food, glitzy ambiance, and dressing up in glamorous clothes. Beverly Hills never disappoints for a memorable meal. The Ivy, Craig’s, or The Polo Lounge are all some of my favorite spots for dining. To get great pictures, some of the best views of the city are from Laurel Canyon, especially the overlooks on Mulholand Drive. Lastly, Santa Monica also has so much to offer. The mini amusement park, the pier, dining, the boardwalk, the swimming, shopping, etc. I could never get bored in Santa Monica because there’s always something to do no matter what kind of mood you’re in!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Nothing means more to me than the constant and endless support from my entire family, friends, and anybody else who has always believed in me from the start. I am forever grateful and blessed to have each of you in my life.
