Meet Jack Cook | American Film Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jack Cook and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jack, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is necessary. At times taking a large risk is the most frightening feeling for an artist or entrepreneur… but if you don’t take the risk, nothing will happen and that is worse than failure.
For me as a filmmaker I’m constantly forced to take calculated risks and it reminds me of working out. When i first start a new workout, it is difficult to be consistent but after some time goes by the new experience becomes habit and routine.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My directorial debut, The Private Eye hits theaters in early 2024.
The movie showcases a NEW Hollywood of cast & crew members and I’m so glad to be a part of this movement. Every so many years, Hollywood has a cycle of artist. Where the people that were playing 20-year-olds can’t play 20-year-olds anymore and the audience is looking for a different perspective from a filmmaker.
When doing something new in the grandest way it’s a constant learning experience and the best way to learn the ropes is by diving head first and taking action.
I over came the challenges by never giving up and staying true to the vision I saw for the project in my self.
I can’t wait for everyone to see The Private Eye and what this new generation of Hollywood can do!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hands-down my favorite place to visit in Los Angeles is the wisdom tree. The view from the top of that mountain, and the story behind the tree is epic and unforgettable.
I definitely would recommend the Griffith Observatory if you have never been. This museum is full of rich history, and again amazing views, including one of the Hollywood sign. And of course Venice Beach and Malibu Beach.
For food/restaurants I would recommend El Tepeyac Cafe, lettuce feast, stout burgers and beer, the Morrison. And I always love finishing my night at Boomtown Brewery.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like thank all the cast & crew of The Private Eye.
The Private Eye took over a decade to complete from script to screen. It took hundreds of great minds and compassion from the most dedicated artists I have ever known.
To everyone involved THANK YOU for giving me your all!
