Meet Jack & Kenau Victor | Techky Apparel Founders

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jack & Kenau Victor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jack & Kenau, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
People fail to realize just how intriguing tech really is and how much of an impact it has on our daily lives. We are heavily engaged on these devices hours at a time. It’s amazing how much time we spend on our phones, Ipads, watching our smart TVs, and the list goes on and on. However, people still seem oblivious to how intrigued they are by technology and the advancements that this industry has contributed to. We love using the devices that come from the tech industry but we don’t recognize the masterminds behind these innovative technologies. There is a stigma on the tech industry that it’s for nerds, it’s unappealing and boring but we engulf ourselves into the products that come forth while forgetting that the device or app you find so captivating comes from that so-called “boring” industry. Long story short, there is an unawareness that deep down every person is fascinated with tech but they just don’t know it and every person has yet to realize that tech is quite intriguing which is why we’re addicted to it in the first place!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Techky Apparel Brand, LLC is a streetwear-inspired clothing line for techs and tech lovers. Our brand is merging tech and fashion while promoting diversity and inclusion in tech. We like the fact that we are creating designs with more meaning and creativity behind them, and we implemented QR codes onto the sleeves so you can scan them and get taken directly to the website as soon as someone compliments you on your shirt. We are very proud of the designs that we came up with and how many people outside of the tech industry that resonates with our brand. There is such a stigma on the tech industry being uninteresting and for nerds so we are happy to see how much of an impact our brand has on changing that perception. Who would have thunk that, back in 2020 when we started this brand in our 2 bedroom apartment with 2 kids and no office space, we would get to where we are today with a whole new network of supporters, followers, and motivators that want to see what else we come up with. It was very challenging to put ourselves out there on the forefront in an industry that is predominantly Caucasian males and say “hey look at our streetwear brand promoting diversity in tech”. We looked random and sporadic but I think that our creativity and inclusive message helped captivate our audience and raise curiosity which has led to new members of the Techky family. In the end, we learned that perseverance overcomes fear and we want people to know that it’s going to be hard but hard doesn’t mean impossible.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were to take my best friend out on the town I would take them to 6 flags theme park, river tubing in Helen, GA (mini Germany), and a hiking adventure in Stone Mountain for some thrill and adventure. When it’s time to eat I would swing by Southcity Kitchen in Buckhead Atlanta or 10 degrees south ATL which is also where celebrities have been spotted on their dinner outings. Then for some shopping, there is Ponce City Market, Westside Provisions District, and Krog Street Market. Not only can you shop but there is food, desserts, and spots to just chill outside or around the shopping area and enjoy the vibe. Georgia is also very historical so you can go to different museums like the Civil Rights Museum next to Coca-Cola factory and take a tour in Savannah, GA where there are other historical buildings and artifacts.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’d definitely like to shoutout the supporters and followers of our brand Techky Apparel because, in the beginning, we were a tad bit worried if they would be receptive to the message we were promoting to an industry that wasn’t quite familiar with what we were bringing to the table. Mixing the love for tech and fashion as well as speaking out on the need for inclusion and diversity in the tech industry. Having the ability to help express that passion through streetwear has been an interesting journey thus far but we are excited to have the support and encouragement of those on board with the mission behind our brand.
