We had the good fortune of connecting with Jack Madden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jack, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Never give up. That simple. If something isn’t working, make a change, sure. Try to improve. But don’t give up. If you give up on your dream, then it won’t happen. But if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In my journey with the camera, I’ve traversed a diverse range of projects, ranging from YouTube and corporate ventures to immersive cinematic experiences. Doing what I’m doing now, which is largely social media content, my overarching mission is to infuse every project with a distinct quality that sets it apart. My signature style revolves around using professional equipment to immortalize moments and narratives, tailor-made for sharing on social platforms. It’s not often a construction business shoots their Instagram reels on a $10k camera. But that’s what sets my clients apart. This approach not only distinguishes my work from the ordinary but also elevates my clients’ content to exude a premium aura.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This really depends on what city I’m in. When I’m answering this question, I’m in a Starbucks on the NorthEast end of Phoenix Arizona. (And I don’t know a whole lot about this city – but the self-driving taxis are cool)
I like to travel a lot, and if I can find clients somewhere new, I’m always eager to adventure. Home base for me right now is just outside of the Canadian Rockies. So those are my go-to spot. I’m not much of one for city night-life. My go to spot is about half an hour west of the town of Banff, AB. where the road crosses with the Bow River. A stroll down there overlooking Castle Mountain is perfect… and I’ll occasionally bring some supplies to make lunch out there.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When it comes to “support”, I try to think of myself as an independent. Sure, I’ve learned a lot working for others, and as part of teams, but only when working on my own have I actually started achieving something I’m proud of and truly happy doing. With that being said, recently my biggest inspiration has been my good friend Michaela Coleman (@michaelacoleman). She’s inspired me to be more creative, adventurous, and has helped me capture new unique landscapes and moments on film, that I would have never pursued on my own. She’s been a big inspiration and support in my growing social presence online and her work is even more incredible.
