We had the good fortune of connecting with Jack Neblung and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jack, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Growing up, I always possessed a blind love for the craft. Creating art was an outlet for me to express myself in a way that I found fun & fulfilling. The habit of drawing every day became integral to who I am. I especially enjoyed the challenges of always trying to improve upon the previous project. Finding new and exciting ways to draw and paint always had me coming back for more. Pursuing art as a career was never a question. I’m going to be drawing anyway, it stands to reason I should try and flip a profit doing it. The dream is to take these skills I’ve accumulated over years of natural curiosity and put it towards projects that will serve a greater purpose, and to serve others.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think humor is the driving force in my artwork. Whenever I sit down to draw something, whether fun or dramatic, I tend to gravitate towards comedy. Often looking to strike a balance between consummate professionalism and imaginative whimsy. I like to have fun while i work, but not too much fun that I compromise the quality of the illustration. Most of the challenges I face with my work are self imposed. I pride myself in my artistic growth, and the efficiency at which I work compared to only a few years ago. I think this article will be a nice checkpoint of where I am in my artistic journey in 2024, and I’m excited to see where I will be in a few more years.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m forever grateful for so many who continue to provide support and inspiration. Shoutout to Kelly, my family, my cats, and to all of my wonderful friends.
