We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Gouche and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jackie, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
The most important thing I did as a parent was to give my children my undivided attention from the age of 0-7. That is the time that their subconscious program is being written. It eventually becomes the guidance system for their entire lives. During this time, parents must be intentional about the words they speak to their children. Those words are the foundation for their belief system and their character

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have worked in the music industry for over forty years. I’ve had the pleasure of singing on stages and in studios behind Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Quincy Jones, Patti LaBelle, Stevie Wonder, Elton John and a host of others. My career began at the age of 18 as a PTL singer on the Jim and Tammy-Faye Baker show. I went on the become a background vocalist for the artists mentioned above. I was married at the age of 21, and immediately became a mother. I poured my musical knowledge into my three sons, who are now well known, Grammy nominated artists. Inglewood “SIR”, with TDE Records, D Smoke, winner of the 2019 Netflix competition, Rhythm and Flow. And Davion Farris, newly signed to Def Jam.
For the past 35 years I have also had the honor of serving as Minister of Music and worship leader at a local church in Inglewood.
I have authored four books; My autobiography entitled “How Would I Know?” “True Worshipers” a biblical perspective on Praise & Worship. “Raising Kings” the story of my experience in raising three amazing young men, and the most recent one, “Harmony; Cultivating Inner Peace”. This book contains the principles I’ve learned that allow me to successfully navigate my path, while remaining in a state of Inner peace. It will be available as an audiobook in October 2023.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would spend the first day at the Beach, either walking in the sand or riding bikes on the path along the Pacific coast. That is my place of refuge! With my busy schedule, I rarely have time to cook. So I would take them on a tour of my favorite restaurants. Beginning with “The Catch” on Melrose. Then “Joeys” in Manhattan Beach. We would visit “Eddie V’s” on Rosecrans for the best Crab Cakes this side of heaven! We would have to have lunch at SweetGreen, the ultimate salad bar. The last stop would be “The Lido” a little hidden gem of an Italian restaurant on Rosecrans, not far from Eddie Vs. The Lobster tacos are a must!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother is my hero! She was my support system as I battled addiction. She was also there for me during my seven-year period of single motherhood.
