Meet Jackie Tumaian | Independent Travel Agent & Traveler

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Tumaian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jackie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always loved traveling, finding good deals and putting vacations together for myself and friends. I want to show people that traveling doesn’t have to be expensive, that it doesn’t have to be difficult. I truly just want to help people see this big, beautiful world we live in!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am so passionate about helping others explore the world. I think it’s so important to travel, to venture outside of our little box, to experience other cultures, foods and languages. In January 2020, I launched Jac Of All Travels offering help with itinerary planning, logistics, travel guides and more. I really wanted to help people that were new travelers or on a budget or felt overwhelmed doing it on their own. Turned out 2020 was not the year to launch anything travel related, but who could have predicted that one! Needless to say, it was a slow first couple years but luckily people are traveling again now more than ever! In 2023, I became an Independent Travel Agent to further assist my clients in making their dream vacations happen. This year in May, I will be taking my first group trip that is open to the public and not just my friends, Jac Of All Travels to Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico. There are so many people that love to travel, but don’t have anyone to go with or would love to experience it with other optimistic and fun adventurers, which is why I want to have more group trips in the future. I just love seeing people explore the world and I’d love to help them do so in any way I can!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am lucky enough to live in one of the most fun cities in the country! Whenever I have friends visit for the week, I love to start the weekend off with a happy hour on a rooftop downtown followed by dinner in Little Italy. There’s always a new bar or speakeasy to check out. On weekends I love finding a new hiking spot, walking over to the farmers market, going to brunch, hitting the beach, then ending nights with music and friends. The things we could do to fill the week are endless, from museums to the San Diego Zoo or a Padres game at Petco Park. La Jolla offers some cool hikes, nice beaches and shopping. And ending any week by watching the sunset at Sunset Cliffs, will make anyone appreciate the beauty that is San Diego.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, I owe it all to my friends and family. I call them my framily. All of my business comes from word-of-mouth. My framily always recommend me to their friends/family and they’re always sharing pictures from our trips and talking me up! I am so grateful for them, their kind words and their continued business. And that tells me that they had a life-changing travel experience with me or through me, and that is a joy I can’t explain.
