We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Lara and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacob, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to reflect my unwavering faith as a firm believer in Jesus Christ, a great family man, and devoted husband. I aim to be remembered as a diligent individual who worked tirelessly to better myself, both physically in the gym and spiritually in my daily life. My aspiration is to leave a lasting impact through my music, using it as a tool to influence others to make positive decisions and strive for the best in all aspects of their lives. I hope to be remembered as someone who inspired others to pursue their dreams and live with purpose, driven by love, faith, and dedication to personal growth and the well-being of those around me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For the past 14 years, I have dedicated myself to creating music that reflects my journey and experiences. I embarked on this path at the age of 18, pouring my heart and soul into crafting over 100 songs that resonate with my listeners. Today, I am proud to share that my music garners over 150,000 plays each month, a testament to the connection I’ve established with my audience.
In addition to my musical endeavors, I have triumphed over personal challenges, including overcoming addiction to achieve three years of sobriety. My faith in God and my passion for surfing have been sources of strength and inspiration throughout my journey.
My story is not without its share of obstacles—I’ve grappled with career aspirations in the culinary arts and as a barber, all while navigating the complexities of addiction and enduring the pain of failed relationships. However, I have courageously woven these raw, unfiltered experiences into my music, leaving nothing concealed. My art serves as a testament to the depth of my struggles and triumphs, offering an authentic portrayal of my life’s trials and tribulations.
Through my music, I aspire to connect with others who may be facing similar challenges, offering them hope and encouragement through the power of shared experiences. My story is one of resilience, redemption, and unyielding honesty, and I hope that by sharing it, I can inspire others to confront their own adversities with unwavering courage and determination.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to God, whose unwavering presence has guided me through life’s challenges and blessings. I am also immensely grateful for the constant love and support of my mom, stepdad, grandma, and grandpa, who have been pillars of strength and wisdom in my journey. Additionally, I owe a debt of gratitude to my therapist, Erica Spiegelman, whose book “Rewired” and the team at Oak Forrest Recovery have played pivotal roles in helping me overcome my struggles with addiction. Their collective support and guidance have been instrumental in shaping my path toward healing and personal growth.
