We had the good fortune of connecting with Jade Relic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jade, what do you want people to remember about you?
I always knew I wanted to leave an imprint on this earth with my art; I want people to remember me as an artist who fearlessly explored the boundaries of what being a creative means to this world. Whether it’s a song to lift spirits or a performance to inspire the soul. I want to be remembered as someone who sparked creativity and encouraged others to express themselves through art and music. I hope to inspire aspiring artists to embrace their uniqueness, much like the creative trailblazers who motivated me on my musical journey.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an independent artist I write, arrange and record everything myself at home. I promote and share my music all myself the best way I can. My goal from the beginning was to write love songs that anyone can enjoy. Something easy listening, relaxing, beautiful, and fun. I think I’ve done a pretty good job thus far.
All my music is under the name Worncapkid, a name I used for all my socials growing up and just decided to release my music under, I felt it rolled off the tongue nicely and I already had the name for all social media platforms.

I put out a my first music project out in 2018 a mixtape titled Lovesick. A collections of songs I wrote about having a crush on that someone you know you shouldn’t have a crush on.
Growing up queer and having a crush on your straight friend was weirdly enough a great muse.
A year later I put out an EP titled Missreality. Which has some of my favorite songs I’ve written to this day.
It has songs that I was really proud of, and I felt showed my growth as a songwriter.
At the end of 2020 I put it a self-titled debut. This album takes you on a journey of falling in love and learning that love can be infinite when the work is put into it. 2020 was an interesting year for everyone, I fell in love with my best friend that year, and since we couldn’t go out and do anything we were in each each other’s circle for that year. I learned a lot about myself, and what love could be.

By far the biggest challenge I’ve faced is how to stay inspired and to hold on to that drive to keep creating .I’ve learned that I need to live my life, I need to have new experiences, and just be human. I’ve also come to learn that I need to dive into different mediums of art to help me get inspired.
It’s also a challenge to understand that it’s something you can’t force. It takes time to regain that creative flow and to get the inspiration that you’re looking for.

I have poured my heart and soul into each of my releases and have since played countless shows with my band.
When arranging songs I keep in mind how I can craft that soundscape with my band, in a live performance. Performing these songs in front of a crowd is what really keeps me going. It’s a thrill like no other and performing is something I’ve grown to love deeply. I’ve been exploring new and fun ways to perform that have helped me stayed motivated to create and to feel inspired.

For the past two years I’ve been working on a new a new album. It’s a project I want to be more polished and released a bit more “professional”. It’s definitely my proudest work yet and I’m excited to share it with the world when the time is right.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would probably find a local drag show and go out to support queer creatives.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to the friends who constantly encourage and inspire me, my parents who have always supported me and encouraged me my whole life to just be myself, and to my partner for unwavering support on my artistic journey. Their belief in me fuels my creativity and drive.
