We had the good fortune of connecting with Jahdyn Faith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jahdyn, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
From a young age, I’ve always felt very drawn to music. I was four years old the first time I sang on a stage. From that moment on I knew I was going to be doing it for the rest of my life. I know you’re probably thinking I’m just being dramatic, but seriously, I wanted the microphone any chance I got after that. When I got a little older, my parents put me in the children’s choir at church; we would sing for special occasions or holidays. So you can imagine my joy when I was finally old enough to join the adult choir and sing every Sunday. I started writing songs when I was thirteen, just for myself in my notebook, and never sharing them with anyone, but when I was sixteen, I went into a studio for the first time. I cut two records that day. Even though I had so much to learn, it felt like I’d been doing it my whole life. It was seamless. I firmly believe that when something is meant for you, it cannot be kept from you, and looking back at the natural progression, music and I have never been separated. I think any time you start to walk in your purpose, it feels like you’re going through a door that was perfectly designed for you. That’s what artistry is for me, a door to my purpose.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For the past five years, I have dedicated myself to my craft, completely. During this time there has been a lot of trial and error. A lot of learning and growing. Something that has always stuck with me is that your gifts will make room for you. Because of that, I have allowed my faith to pilot my career. Sometimes it feels like a whole bunch of waiting, and that’s not always easy, but I know the “wait” will be worth it. With that being said, I think building a team is so important so that when you face some of the more challenging moments you have someone in your corner to remind you that you will overcome. And if you don’t have that yet, I’m here to tell you. Keep going, it will get better. To date, I am so excited to be working with Roney Hooks, who was on the production team famously known as the Bomb Squad. He has worked with artists such as Mariah Carey, Baby Face, Ice Cube, and now me, Jahdyn Faith. We started working on my first EP at the beginning of 2022. Working with Roney has been a match made in Heaven, his production with my lyrics and melody have created really dreamy records. We have some amazing projects set to be released this summer.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely at the top of my list is Oh My Burger. Krispy Kreme buns. Enough said. We are in sunny California, so Malibu would have to be the next stop on the list. And if you’re looking for a good meal there Geoffery’s is my go-to! As far as entertainment goes, I always love catching a show at the Novo, they always have incredible artists playing!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, God, there is no me without Him. In my story, I owe a lot of credit and recognition, to my family. I have been so blessed to have the support of both my mom and dad for my career. They have put all of their resources and time into learning with me, guiding me, making sure I stay protected in this industry, and always singing (as loud as they can) along to all of my songs. My four older siblings have also been right by my side, cheering me on. I love them for that. When it comes to my music, it’s never been me by myself, so I have to give a special shoutout to my friend and mentor Shawn “Source” Jarrett, who has taught me so much and been a part of my musical journey from the very beginning. I am truly so grateful to everyone who has put time and energy into my career.
