We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Berman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to help people through coaching and to be able to do it in a way that fit my lifestyle. Having my own business was the route that seemed to suit both of those intentions best. Growth is one of my top values so I love the amount of growth that came come from having your own business. Every year is so different!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a financial empowerment coach for female entrepreneurs. I founded The Money Manifestation Movement, which is a group coaching program where women come to heal their relationship with money and learn how to make more of it in business. Our focus is on doing the internal work around money that allows you to stop playing small, and create the wealth you most desire. This work matters so much to me because I believe the world becomes a better place when we have more heart-centered women making a lot of money. I got to the place I’m in today by using the same process that I teach. I’ve been in business since 2010, but it was about five years ago that things really shifted for me. I went from barely making ends meet to creating a half-million dollar-a-year business doing what I love. It’s the effect of healing my own relationship with money, which is why I love this work so much. Creating a successful business certainly hasn’t been easy. It’s been the thing that has grown me the most. My biggest obstacle is always my mind, and how to move forward when things don’t go as expected, or I “fail” at something. I feel grateful that my mentor Brooke Castillo taught me that failure is the way to success. It helped me reframe failure, and know that it’s part of the game. The other thing that’s helped me the most in business is learning how to process my emotions. Knowing that no feeling is ever permanent and that having a human experience mixed with all of the emotions is a part of the journey. The more willing I am to feel it all- disappointment, frustration, failure, even humiliation, etc, the more I grow. In the past, I used to run away and hide when I had any discomfort arise. The willingness to keep going no matter what is what I’m most proud of.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love when friends & family visit because there’s just so much to experience around LA! My mom and sister are coming in town next week and I have lots planned with them. One day I’ll take them kayaking or paddle boarding in Marina Del Rey followed by a delicious Mexican lunch at Chulita on Rose Ave. in Venice. I’ve also rented a sailboat in Marina Del Rey with friends and that was a super fun experience. I’ll also take them to the Getty one day, followed by girls evening at The Now Massage Spa in studio city. I always love grabbing an Italian Gelato while I’m over there at FataMorgana too! I love taking people to Zuma Beach in Malibu for a relaxing day. One of my favorite romantic LA restaurants is Inn at the Seventh Ray in Topanga. For shopping, Palisades Village is always a fun place to go.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I first want to thank my husband, Josh, who has been my biggest cheerleader since day 1. He is the person who believes in me when I don’t believe in myself. He always sees the highest version of me. The support he’s provided me is the greatest gift, and I so appreciate him. I also want to thank my mentor Brooke Castillo for being an example of what is possible and sharing so much with the world. Becoming certified, and master’s certified through the Life Coach School has changed my life.
