We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamila Moore, M. Ed., Esq. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamila, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have been entrepreneurial since the age of 13. In middle school I started my first business as a candy saleswoman! My thought process behind starting that business was to increase my income so that I can have more things. Fast forward twenty years and I scaled my business from an attorney as a solo practitioner to a full online business that helps people build out profitable businesses, monetize their skills, and legally protect their businesses and profits. My business name, I AM & More was birthed to partner with new and aspiring entrepreneurs (CEOs as I like to say) to live in the fullness of their greatness but to build out something greater in the future, such as a business! So, in essence I started I AM & More for people who want more and may not necessarily know where to start or how to build out their vision.

What should our readers know about your business?
I AM & More ™ is a full-service leadership and business development firm that provides coaching, courses, and consulting to support aspiring and new entrepreneurs as both legal counsel and a business strategist. I am a licensed attorney in California and New York, and I have served as a teacher for over a decade. In 2013, I advanced from a teacher to a coach while attending law school in the evening. As a school administrator and coach, I advised organizational leaders, provided organizational strategy, and created and implemented organization-wide policies and procedures. In addition, I developed professional development curriculums and workshops and led staff-wide professional development training and workshops. As a result, many of these organizations experienced exponential growth and achieved greater staff performance and morale.

Despite my love for education, I fully transitioned to the legal field in 2017 where she began working with new, aspiring, and emerging entrepreneurs. My work with entrepreneurs included business advice and legal counsel. My love for entrepreneurs grew while my passion for teaching never waned, which is why I bundled all my talents together in I AM & More ™ (“I AM”) At I AM, my team and I work with new and aspiring entrepreneurs to build out your profitable business, ensure their success, and ensure that these businesses have the right legal protections in place.

True to the name of my business, this is not all that I offer. In 2021, I published my first e-book, Affirmations for Transformations, 40 Life Changing Declarations and Action Steps along with a journal, titled, Win the Day, the Night Before.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As an LA native, I have never fully experienced all that LA has to offer as an adult. At 18, I moved to the east coast to attend college and lived in New York for 10 years thereafter. When I returned home, we were in a global pandemic. As such, I am learning all that LA has to offer outside of its beautiful beaches, warm weather, and vast eateries. Since my return, I have found a great love for Santa Monica. It is peaceful and serene and has two of my favorite stores in the promenade. It also offers a variety of activities which I love. Classes like spin and other dance classes really bring me joy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to my mother and my uncle, Curtis. It was her sacrifices and prayers that allowed me to chase the latest variation of my dream while my uncle played a huge supporting role as well. I believe there is no I in success, so my community plays a huge role in helping to finance my dreams, keep me encouraged, and hold me accountable. There are many names I could mention, but I would forget one or two and would hate for anyone to feel as though I forgot to acknowledge them.
