We had the good fortune of connecting with Jana Bunge and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jana, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
A legacy… a lasting impact on the world – a gift passed down through generations: money, property, or even life stories spoken or written to be remembered forever. It is about the richness of the individual’s life, what that person accomplished and the impact he or she had on people and places. The story of each person’s life reflects and creates their legacy.

I believe my legacy is like a three-stranded cord. emotional, social and spiritual. Individually, each strand cannot hold much weight. But wrapped together, they are strong. I want people to remember me as a person with integrity. The friend and colleague that always provided a safe environment for emotional roots to grow – the boss that encouraged and supported my team. And above all, the wife/mom/grandma that showed unconditional love and acceptance. The woman who loved Jesus, was loved by God, strengthened by His Grace, and led daily by His Hand.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Jana and Co. Makeup and Hair Design provides onsite makeup and hair services for weddings, special events, productions, as well as offering group and private instruction. We are known for our quality work, personable artist teams, and meeting and surpassing the needs of each client we come in contact with. My father was a hairdresser – I’ve grown up in and around the beauty business! I’ve been a working professional in the industry since 1984. I am proud and honored to have wonderful artists to work alongside me – we strive to do our best to create an atmosphere of calm during what can often be a very stressful time in the life of a bride to be!
The “pre-production” work that I do prior to any event is what sets us aside from many other companies. Creating specific timelines, storyboards of clients’ vision pics, and having our team arrive on site fully prepared (i.e., tables, chairs, electrical, all equipment and products, etc.). All of this combined will create a calm work atmosphere and seamless wedding day.
Overcoming struggles is part of this industry. The most important thing to remember: our goal is to meet and surpass the needs of each client. And this business is about relationships…building and nurturing relationships with our clients, fellow vendors, and artist teams. When relationships blossom – so will your business!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m the gal who will search out the best “locals” place – those little hidden gems with the best food and energy!! Fun eateries? In Malibu definitely Duke’s, and for a different vibe – try out Neptunes Net! My hubby and I often hop on his Harley and travel PCH looking for a new place to stop! There are many local theaters that offer great live performances. One of my favorites is the Ahmanson in Los Angeles.

Taking PCH to Ventura is the best!! Live music at every turn, and yummy treats to enjoy. One of my favorite little hideaways is the Marina Beach Motel in Santa Barbara. A modest and sweet getaway just steps from the beach and boardwalk. Definitely a must for the beach lover!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So thankful to my family, friends and staff at Jana and Co. Makeup and Hair Design! My parents as mentors, and ultimately grateful to the Lord Jesus who has made this all possible!
