We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Nicole Naziri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine Nicole, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’ve had many influential mentors over the years and throughout my life. These individuals include my parents, grandparents, former bosses, and artists I’ve collaborated with on various projects. They all have one common denominator, one that has been instilled in me, that has shaped and molded who I am as a woman, and as a person. That common denominator was to never be afraid to fail, to always give maximum effort, to understand that when one door closes another will open, that failure is only truly a failure when you don’t learn a lesson from it. Taking calculated risks has played an enormous role in my professional development. Whether that is challenging myself to start my own businesses from scratch, to physically pushing myself to compete with many women to become a Pure Barre instructor, to be brave enough to participate in beauty and talent competitions in front of thousands, and to putting in endless hours to achieve my dream of completing multiple graduate school degrees. I never feared the embarrassment of failing and always tried to prepare for the worst while expecting the best!

What should our readers know about your business?
I am an entrepreneur at heart. I started my own modeling agency while I was in my junior year of college. My ultimate goal would be having my own business again, but I do not foresee that taking place in the near future. I am lucky enough to say I have landed my dream job with a dream team! I am the head of marketing for a beauty brand called Impressions Vanity. I manage all aspects of marketing from digital, content creation, social, copywriting, public relations, events, website development and graphic design. Every morning I wake up excited to walk into work. I learned everything you need to know about “branding” the moment I got into professional modeling at age 14, and fell absolutely in love with marketing and business from that point on. Even though I did go to graduate school, I maintained marketing positions prior to graduate school and part-time while attending graduate school which gave me invaluable experience to add to my resume. As most do, I did go through positions I wasn’t the fondest of, dealing with difficult supervisors that were not the most encouraging but ultimately all worked out. I am a true believer that all things happen for a reason. I would say the most valuable lesson I learned was that obstacles and life difficulties are actually opportunities. This has been something I’ve really tried to emphasize the last few years. Rather than focus on my “bad luck” or “misfortune”, I learned to be a solutions-oriented professional. Rather than dwelling on the obstacle and the unfortunate circumstances that led to it, I try to focus on problem-solving and how to avoid these obstacles in the future. Failure isn’t fatal, but failure to change might be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was coming to visit me in Orange County, I would have an itinerary ready to go including nature, adventure, bougie spots and hole-in-wall authentic hidden gems. I’d start off Saturday morning with my best friend at one of my favorite brunch spots Beachcomber, located in Newport Beach. I’d certainly recommend the delicious eggs Benedict and the spicy Bloody Mary. And Beachcomber has a breathtaking ocean view. Following brunch, I would recommend a hike in Laguna Beach overseeing the city. After the hike, I would take a stroll around Laguna’s Historic Shopping Place and share the beach culture with my friend. There are numerous museums, fine artwork, restaurants, coffee shops all along the beautiful beach. From Laguna, we’d head back to Newport Beach and enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding and possibly renting out a Duffy boat! For dinner I would take my friend to my number one favorite restaurant in Orange County, Sevilla in Costa Mesa located in a vibrant shopping center called Triangle Square. Sevilla has Spanish cuisine and the ambiance is unreal – you truly feel as though you’ve been transported to Spain. The music is primarily reggaeton, which makes you instantly want to dance AND the Sangria is to die for. I am a huge sucker for rooftop locations with outstanding views so I would end the night with my friend at Hive and Honey in Irvine for a glass of wine or craft cocktail. Now, for Sunday there are no questions asked, all day we’d be at Disneyland! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This year has certainly been one of the craziest, however, it has been the biggest blessing for me because I met the love of my love and got engaged. Nothing excites me more than starting a life with him. I have to give credit to him for my “recent story” because of his constant positivity and support. He believes in me to the fullest; he is my rock. I am beyond thankful for the Pure Barre community, a large group of mentally and physically strong women that constantly show love and encourage one another. These phenomenal women push me to work a little bit harder every day, all with a smile on their faces. My parents have an unbelievable worth ethic. I have a fire lit under me from watching their success and how resilient they have been despite obstacles. I worked in the modeling industry since high school, which taught me professionalism and discipline at a very early age. There was constant encouragement from my family to always excel in my studies and in my professional career. I worked throughout school, which required focus, improving my time management skills, all while placing a strong emphasis on self-care and health. These experiences gave me a constant hunger to climb higher ladders in life. I will be reaching for the stars as long as I am on this Earth.
