Meet Jasmine Yolas | Content Creator & Beauty Enthusiast

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Yolas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Consistency is definitely key!
When I started @skinl0ve, I didn’t think it would grow as much as it did over these last two years. Staying consistent and staying authentic has truly been the secret to my success. It’s important that I’m consistent when it comes to posting, engaging with people on my platforms but also staying true to myself and my values. Authenticity and transparency are my life values so I try to make sure to incorporate those values in my content and I think people appreciate that. The raw and the real.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a social media content creator focused on all facets of beauty and self-love. I was born in Grand Rapids, MI and lived in different areas of the world and I appreciate my parents for allowing me to experience different cultures and meet all types of people. I initially started my page, skinl0ve to document my skin journey. I had severe acne for 3 or 4 years and I would take pictures and videos of my journey until one day, my very best friends convinced me to start a separate social media for it. I didn’t see many women of color in the skincare and beauty space and I knew many women of color were probably suffering with similar issues but had no guidance or someone to relate to.
Starting skinl0ve was definitely a release and allowed me to show my true authentic self to the world without any judgment. I was surrounded by other people who looked like me and could empathize with my story.
My main goal is to strive to be an example for other women of all colors who may feel alone. Since then, my page has grown tremendously and I am now able to partner with different brands from skincare to hair to wellness and be a voice in my community. I didn’t see myself represented in those spaces so to be able to be that person for someone means everything to me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love this question because most of my best friends live in Miami and it’s always so fun when they come to visit!
I’m a huge foodie so first stop is my favorite place ever in Hollywood, CA; Hot Motha Clucka! If you love Nashville style chicken, fried pickles and good drinks this place is for you. Also on the itinerary: Ma’s Italian Kitchen, Bottega Louie, Misfit Bar, Lock and Key, The Griddle, Roberta’s, and 3rd Base to name a few!
We obviously have to check out the beach but not just Santa Monica and Venice! Point Dume is my favorite hidden beach. It’s absolutely beautiful. We have to check out an event at the famous EchoPlex and rooftop bar at Hotel Erwin.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow, so many people have been apart of this journey and I wouldn’t be here without their love and support.
Firstly, my dad. He is my rock and my #1 supporter. I remember when I first told him about my page and what I wanted to do. He didn’t understand at first, but he saw the dedication and love that went into this and how I was building from the ground up. 2 years later, my dad now shoots and records my paid content. I’m so grateful!
My wonderful friends and loved ones! Fei, Sarah, Tanya, Xavier, Sherina, Lucy, Lai, Destiny, the “Gworlz”, Ashleigh, and so many others for their constant support and encouragement.
