We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Orellana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Emphasis.la was formed to serve an undeserved community of small and midsized business owners who likely don’t have access to large marketing and campaign funds. We saw a need in the community that we serve and we knew that we had a service they could benefit from.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We serve a vast community of entrepreneurs. We learn as much from our clients and their respective industries as we share with them. Most importantly, we believe in giving back. You can find us coaching at learn teach code or speaking at WordPress meetups, and we believe that our value is in connecting and understanding the needs of our clients and their clients.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Coffee at Republik Cafe for sure Linner (lunch/dinner) at Dog Haus
We love a delicious brew and mastermind at Bravery Brewery or some delicious sushi at Harney
We are not picky, but we do have our favorites.
We believe in good food good drinks and good business and some awesome partnerships start with the back of a napkin.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of course family is the strongest support behind this vision, but we would be non existing without our wonderful clients and mentors and community of local small businesses. We love to read and if you call us we can share our list, one of our favorites though, is Dr. Covey’s Seven Habits.
