We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason “SOUNDSBYKROCK” Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason “SOUNDSBYKROCK”, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
With every type of business becoming mobile, prior to the pandemic starting, I started to provide a mobile recording service. With some artist are not able to afford a full studio, I provide the equipment and soon a mobile booth to record out of.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is sort of straight forward. I’m a mobile recording studio on wheels. Coming to a clients house or personal work space, setting up, recording and completing a song, always have my client saying, “If I had you a while ago, I would’ve saved a lot of time and money.” It’s exciting to get the same result in a home as I would in a professional studio. After working in a few recording studios after graduating from Los Angeles Recording School, I saw a need for a sound engineer that would be able to record a client any where at anytime. It was far from easy. Figuring out what I would need took several years of research and questioning people I’ve saw in other countries doing what I wanted to do. It got really overwhelming at times. Trying to start a business that’s not to many have done, toppled by life issues really wore me out. almost to the point I wanted to give up. But as I kept going I start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Even though I’m still working on my mobile booth, I’m way more closer than I was 3 years ago. So never give up. even when it gets tuff, follow your dreams. They’ll come true with constant work towards it. Sounds claque, but it’s so true.
I want people to understand that “SOUNDSBYKROCK” is more than a recording service or music production. We help artiest achieve there best, strive for the best, and work to becoming the best artist they possibly can.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So, we’ll have breakfast at Roscoes on Pico and La Brea for the Obama Special with the a Sunrise off tops. Then swing by the homie and long time friend DJ Casanova’s crib to get up to speed with all the new music in and around the city. Then we’d probably hit my boy Dem Jointz studio to see what he’s working on and vibe out with him for a bit. Then on the late night, hit the taco truck on Venice and La Brea for some bomb street tacos. If any shows or events going down, we’ll hit that as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this to my brother Joesph for always giving me the encouragement to start my mobile business and become self sufficient. My Kids Sabra, Shawn, and Lyric; they keep me going and motivated to continue to be the best parent and positive role model. And to my parents Joe and Dot Jackson for instilling in me God, good morals and a can do attitude. LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
