Meet Jaycee Lindsley | Strengthening Communities, One Event at a Time

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaycee Lindsley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaycee, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I worked as a property manager for eight years and was responsible for hosting events for my tenants. I found that resident events play a crucial role in fostering a strong sense of community. It was rewarding seeing residents form connections with one another, especially when they were new to the area and seeking friends.
However, planning and executing events was overwhelming, especially when coupled with my regular workload. I didn’t find many resources for simplifying the event planning process and it felt like my only options were to hire an event planner (which we couldn’t afford) or to just do it myself.
I felt compelled to address the need for event services which were fairly priced and specifically designed for apartment communities.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I moved to Los Angeles in 2014, I found it challenging to make new friends and build a social circle. I slowly starting meeting people through work and within the apartment buildings I managed.
I realized the significance of strong communities and the role events play in fostering connections and building a sense of belonging. Witnessing firsthand the transformative power of community events, I became passionate about hosting gatherings that would bring people together, offering them opportunities to bond and form lasting friendships.
My own struggles ignited a desire to create inclusive, warm, and welcoming spaces for others who might be facing similar challenges, ultimately seeking to strengthen communities and make a positive impact in people’s lives.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s good going into entrepreneurship with a little bit of ignorance. Otherwise, most of us would not endure the journey. I knew that leaving my full-time job and starting my own business would be hard, but I couldn’t anticipate just how emotionally taxing it would be. There were many, many times when I wanted to give up. Long, stressful hours spent working with little to no money earned. In those moments of doubt, exhaustion and frustration, you NEED someone to stand in the thick of it with you. My boyfriend, Steve, was my rock, cheerleader, sponsor, and so much more. Without him, I wouldn’t have been able to make this leap, nor would I have made it this far.
