We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazzie K Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazzie K, why did you pursue a creative career?
Wow…I love this question. I’ve always had a love for music…especially Jazz Music. But I love all types of music. I can remember hearing Radio DJ’s Like Russ Parr and Tom Joyner. I was like this is what I want to do. But, being a shy guy behind a mic..I never wanted to be seen. :). And 29 years I’m still doing what I love. It’s my peace of serenity.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

What set me be apart from others, is that you hear and see the passion in my eyes and you can hear it in my voice. When interviewing my guest, it’s not about me having the biggest name of the show. That’s not what I go after, there are so many amazing artist out there, that I feel don’t get the recognition that they should. I call them the “if-factor” it could be the drummer behind the main act, or the back-ground singer, bass-player, saxophonist, etc.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well here in Montgomery, AL – The birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement

I’m a big history guy…so we would check-out local attractions Civil Rights Memorial Center, Rosa Parks Musuem, and other museums.

We would go to some great Food Spots – Great BBQ Spot “Chandler’s Smokehouse, Great Cup-Cakes (Homemade) – Little Red Cupcakes, Good Drinks at CC’s Daiquiri, checkout some theater at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, night-left check out my girl Kim jackson McClain – aka..Mz. Kimmy Karaoke….

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wow….I have to “Shoutout my Mom…she’s deceased now. Who was my biggest supporter and always had my back in all my endeavors. Also, my spouse Dwight – he’s my bestfriend, my left and right arm. I have to thank all my family, friends, and my WVAS Radio Family – Past and Present. All my guest on KWARD RADIO “Artist Talk Show.
