We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazzmenn Zoe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazzmenn, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
I think success can be defined in many ways and is a “to each it’s own” answer. But for me personally when I was younger I always thought money was what success looked like. And then I got older and I thought being happy was what success looks like . But as my life continues on , and my experiences grow success to me starts to look more and more like contentment. Being content with my life. Being content with my career. And I know the word “content” tends to get a bad rep. But the way I think about it is this. No matter where I am in life or where I’ll be in life. I will be content with it. As an artist you’re always goanna be chasing another “award” or a bigger fan base , or even trying to have the hottest song/ album out every year. But to be content you’d realize whether I get those awards or number 1’s I’m okay. And that to me looks like success. You’ll always be successful with that mindset.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
To get to the place I am today it took a lot of love , prayers , tears, and dedication. But mostly just constantly having people around me who believe in me and to remind myself to believe in me. Doing something as a creative is never an easy journey because it takes a lot of guts, a lot of time , and money. And sometimes that can start to slow you down or make you want to give up. But for myself i keep going because I know anything that I’ve dreamed can and will become my reality. I don’t believe God gives you ideas that you can’t achieve. Or visions that you can’t create. I learned to just keep going. No matter what just keep going. I want the world to know that I am just like them We all want the same thing. We all want to have a good life full of love. And you can have that and you will. But always remember , there’s so much good in the life you have now. You just have to angle your perspective.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my best friend to Africa. I’ve never been and think it would be an amazing experience to go to the motherland. I’m not sure exactly where I would eat but somewhere in like a small village maybe. Where the food is authentic to that region. I would go to see the pyramids and probably hang out by the Nile River . I think the most fun places to go are places that little to no people have been because you get to expletive things other people haven’t yet and can be the first few people to be there.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Big shoutout to my parents for believing in me at a young age and my mom for placing me in talent shows and on stages. I got to experience so much at such a young age and never really realized it until I got older. Thank you guys for listening to my unreleased music in the car and all my practices I took you guys to. Thank you for helping me to evolve into the artist I am today. Love you guys.
