Hi JD, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
As a makeup artist, I want my legacy to be built on the belief that makeup is not just about changing someone’s appearance, but about helping them express their true selves. I hope people remember me for using my craft to inspire confidence, challenge norms, and celebrate individuality. My goal is to leave behind a legacy of artistry that uplifts others, encourages self-love, and fosters a sense of empowerment.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a makeup artist, my work is a blend of creativity, precision, and passion. What sets me apart is my ability to not only enhance natural beauty but to bring out a unique and personalized look for each client. I pride myself on my attention to detail and the ability to adapt to various styles, whether it’s bridal, editorial, or special effects makeup. What excites me most is the transformation process — how makeup can tell a story and make someone feel empowered and confident.

My journey to where I am today wasn’t easy. There were countless long hours, sacrifices, and moments of doubt. However, I overcame these challenges by staying focused, continually learning, and building a supportive network. The lessons I’ve learned have been invaluable: perseverance is key, never stop learning, and always trust your instincts.

The world should know that my brand is about more than just makeup; it’s about celebrating individuality and confidence. I want people to feel seen and heard through the art I create. My story is one of resilience, passion, and a never-ending drive to evolve, and that’s the essence I pour into every look I create.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m going to show them one of the most special spots in our area—the Holy Rosary Parish Church. It’s not just a beautiful church, but it’s also where you can explore the rich history of the heritage district.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Grateful beyond words for my family, friends, and especially my mentor, Chef Froi Cruz. His guidance, belief in me, and relentless support have been instrumental in shaping my journey and pushing me to reach new heights in the makeup industry. This success is as much yours as it is mine. Thank you for always believing in me and helping me grow!”
