We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeanine Talento and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeanine, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe that staying committed to both somatic therapy and trauma-informed yoga in my own personal life is non-negotiable in order for my teaching and, ultimately, my brand to feel authentic. I feel fortunate that both of my business partners are equally invested in and dedicated to their own practices and therapeutic interventions as well. Our collaboration therefore draws from our lived experiences utilizing these tools out of necessity (and sometimes desperation) for our own growth and healing — I believe that this is what is felt by our students and clients and leads to our offerings being so successful.

Of course, my genuine interest in and passion for the work that I do allows the building of the brand and business to feel exciting, hopeful, and natural as well.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I currently run two businesses that I co-founded and am incredibly proud of. I lead Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Trainings through School Yoga Institute with my co-teacher Brooke Alexander and a Somatic Therapy Practitioner Certification with Nichole Ferro. I am so proud of how both offerings model that vulnerability, embodiment, and living with more intention are necessary to feel fulfilled and connected in this life. I am in awe of the profound transformation folks feel at the end of our courses. In a world that feels increasingly fake and disconnected, I feel great pride that our programs bring individuals back to their shared humanity and give them tools to navigate the inevitable challenges of being alive.

It has taken time and there have been many lessons along the way. Building a heart-led, conscious business is not easy in our modern world. It required great trust that doing the work and leading from an authentic and human place would work. I think people are craving more realness and I believe that soulful people will continue to seek places and spaces where they can connect and evolve. It has been interesting to create offerings that are meaningful yet also have to interact with the obvious demands of making money. I am grateful to have incredible business partners that are aligned from a values standpoint that I trust to prioritize the balance of running a business while also not losing sight of why we are doing this in the first place!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh my gosh – SO many people! I am endlessly grateful for the people that I look up to in this field and in my life. The teachers, authors, podcasters, OCD advocates, therapists, and researchers who are making trauma education and body-based interventions more accessible, translated, and respected. Also, my inner circle of friends that are my anchors and have made me feel seen, heard, loved, and less alone in this life.

Examples include but are not limited to: Gabor Mate, Glennon Doyle, Pema Chodron Seane Corn, Hala Khouri, James Fox, Lauren Duke, Brooke Alexander, Nichole Ferro, Raquel Bueno, Natalie Zarowny, Keri Pennell, Alegra Kastens, Kate Toye.

Thank you all so much.
