We had the good fortune of connecting with Jefel Jadoo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jefel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Growing up at my younger ages it was quite strange how I was not quite into dressing up how you would hear maybe other fashion designers how they were dressing up. But as I started getting older, I was developing this passion for clothing, accessories and just overall fashion. I have tried multiple other career in different industries, but nothing seems to make me have this awe like fashion. When I first started my business the plan was to start with clothing, but then I thought about going a different route that could be more affordable which lead me to jewelry. I decided to walk into designer stores such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and a few more names to see their fashion jewelry. After taking a long look at what they have, yes they may have high quality pieces, with good designs, but they are not perfect and the best. That’s when I decided I would start here, with fashion jewelry knowing that I can do the same thing even better. Designing and creating my own jewelry pieces, and basically doing everything my own way. Overall the whole goal is to turn my company into a luxury fashion brand and to build a brand that can create its own path and leave our own mark. Taking everything day by day, one step at a time, starting with fashion jewelry and working my way towards building a complete fashion house — in my own way.
What should our readers know about your business?
My company’s name is LAVIE, which means “life” in french. I picked that name because the fashion designer brands that I look up to have started in France, and I want to be part of that as much as I can. With the goal being to make our way into luxury fashion and be an essential brand for the world. I feel as if it’s not what sets up apart from others but what we do — which is starting off with the fundamentals, such as building a great community, interacting with everyone, and most of all being transparent as possible. I try my best to build the brand that will stay true to my vision and at the same time making sure that the people who are interacting, following and being part of the community like close friends. Living by the saying “The world is our playground” — I want this brand to be about life which can be quite broad but there is so much to life that awes me, keeps me wondering and that’s what it’s all about. I am most proud of a few of the collaborations that I have been able to release with NBA Skills Trainer Chris Brickley and World-Class Tattoo Artist Ricasso Reek. Chris Brickley is one of the best skills trainer out there in the game, and when he reached out to me that he wanted to do a collaboration — It felt like one of the most exciting things for LAVIE. And the same thing goes for releasing a collaboration with Ricasso, ended up being such a great success and so much love and support from everyone. I am truly excited to continue doing collaborations with who ever is next. Getting to where I am today is not easy, entrepreneurship is a life long journey. It requires a ton of patience and ambition and executing your actions. I am still learning, I’m just getting started in my journey and there is so much to learn that you don’t even know, never stop learning. I would say that one of the most important lessons would be to take risk, but take calculated risk. Everyone always says to take risk, but rarely do they every stop and think, trying to take a calculated risk which is better and just makes more sense. For myself and LAVIE, I want the world to know that I’m coming — I’m coming for that #1 spot in luxury fashion. I have a ton to learn and do but luckily I have time on my side. Think about those moments when you just want to sit outside and look up into the sky and think about life and all sorts of wonders come to your mind, that’s what we are all about.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To go hangout, grab some food and do some shopping one of my favorite places would be Mall at Millenia. They have a ton of designer stores and some of your other favorite stores and one of my personal favorite places to eat which is Earl’s Kitchen. Another place I would always recommend is International Drive where there is basically an unlimited amount of things to do there, you think about it and it’s there — Arcades, restaurants, helicopter ride, more shopping.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
From where I have started, too where I am at now – everyone who supports the brand by purchasing a product, following our page and interacting deserves a shoutout. A big shoutout to Ahmad Hassan for being a mentor to me in many ways of the business and life, as well as my close group of friends that have helped me with campaign and product shoots!
