We had the good fortune of connecting with Jen Mintz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jen, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Viktor Frankl’s quote about our power to choose has always resonated with me. He says, “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” This idea – that despite our circumstances (and Frankl’s were pretty horrendous), we ALWAYS have the ability to choose how we think, how we respond, and how we relate to an issue- can be life-altering. It’s more clear than ever that we ultimately have very little control over what is happening in the world around us. This can be scary, daunting and make us feel like victims to our circumstances. But when we remember that our minds are our most powerful ally, and that we constantly have the ability to choose how we think about something (ie as an opportunity for growth, learning, or change), we are empowered, free and unlimited.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a transformational life coach, I support people in their growth and evolution- and really – their love for themselves and their lives. Change is inevitable, whether we think we want it or not – but navigating change in a conscious, intentional way is life-altering, and something we all have the ability to do.

It was becoming aware of this possibility that got me into the coaching industry. I was working as a TV Marketing Exec – feeling successful based on external factors – my title, salary, a back to back schedule – but inside I was burnt out, exhausted and unfulfilled. My day to day life had become totally out of alignment with my core values of authenticity, connection and freedom. In searching for what to do next, I started studying Spiritual Psychology at the University of Santa Monica – one of the most profound and inspiring experiences of my life. Through deep inner work, I got clear on my priorities, my purpose and learned so much about the human spirit and the power of mindset work. Less than halfway through the 2 year program, I knew it was time for a change, that I wanted to spend the next chapter of my life helping other people recognize and step into their own power and potential. I left my job and got certified as a professional coach.

What differentiates me is that I have 20 years of corporate and leadership experience in addition to my coaching and spiritual psychology skills. I love working with clients in the entertainment industry as I can directly relate to so many of their challenges and roadblocks – and help shine a light on their opportunities. The next step in growth is not always changing your job – it’s actually the inner work that creates the biggest transformations. Gaining clarity, awareness, owning and embracing our wholeness – coaching can shift how you show up in all areas of life. There’s nothing better than seeing my clients upgrade their programming and experience real inner peace, balance, joy and fulfillment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ahhhh, so much to do, and such glorious weather to do it in! We’d start off with my favorite hike at Mandeville Canyon to work up a sweat and soak up the views – followed by cocktails and brunch somewhere like Butcher’s Daughter, Rose Cafe or Gjusta – Blue Plate Taco is always fun too. We’d bust the myth that Los Angelenos don’t walk and bounce around Venice and West Hollywood, and get in some leisurely coffee strolls down Montana. There would definitely be a Sunday shopping trip to the Flea Market at Melrose and Fairfax – such good finds and people watching. Then up the coast – a lunch at Malibu Farm, a toe dip in the water, and up to the Santa Ynez valley for frolicking and wine. Solvang and Los Olivos are some of my most favorite places on earth. I’d likely have my dog with me, so we’d stop at Arroyo Burro dog beach on the way back. Plenty more but now I need to go plan a road trip….. 😉

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The conscious coaching community is the most overwhelmingly supportive and collaborative group that I have been a part of. I feel so fortunate to have a circle of high-vibing souls united in a mission to serve, grow and honor the human experience together. Extra special shoutout to Tallia Deljou, Jacqueline Stevens, Erin Meadows, Alyssa Nobriga & Katy Temple for their wisdom, integrity and love.
