We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Champion and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Hypnotherapists do not heal people. Clients heal themselves by creating and living new beliefs about themselves.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Access Your Heart offers both hypnotherapy and meditation services. I’m most proud of the love, compassion and greater understanding that people begin to have for themselves after working with me. I arrived to where I am today, by trusting that I have the right intentions, experience and wisdom to help serve as a guide for others. The most challenging part was thinking that I may not be “enough”, but then I reminded myself that this path found me. I wasn’t seeking to become a meditation instructor or hypnotherapist. All the roads led me here to help others.

I got to where I am because others saw that I am loving and offer a different perspective than judgement. We are all just doing our best given what we have access to at the moment. It’s interesting because I had to be kinder and gentler to myself in order for me to do this work which allows people to be kinder and gentler to themselves.

I want people to know that they are their best guide. People inherently have the answers to their own problems and blockages. The work we do together helps them to uncover, discover and discard what’s no longer serving them so that they can begin to live the lives the were intended to have. Love is more accessible than we realize, we just get in our own way. Love is everyone’s birthright.

The human condition is fraught with suffering and trauma, but the good part is that along with those unpleasant times comes blessings in strength, resilience and many time community and empathy. The work done with Access Your Heart offers a more compassionate experience for oneself. It frees you from the past so you can achieve a better version of yourself and your life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places in all of Los Angeles is the Self Realization Center in Pacific Palisades. Beauty surrounds you as you enter this tranquil and sacred space. The swans on the water, roses in every color, and the soothing sounds of water take you to another place both literally and figuratively. That would be my first stop if my best friend was coming to visit.

I also love The Getty Villa with its epic views, lush gardens, rich history and stunning collections. There’s no better place than the Getty Villa situated on Pacific Coast Highway. Looks are deceiving from PCH because the grounds are so expansive. Grabbing lunch there is easy and delicious and they have the best presents in their gift shop.

I would also take my best friend for to breakfast at Coast Cafe inside Shutters and we would have the best lemon ricotta pancakes in the city. We could rent bikes and ride from Santa Monica to Venice.

We would also get lunch at The Courtyard Kitchen on Montana in Santa Monica. It looks like a normal sidewalk cafe from the street, but inside it looks very European on the Mediterranean. For dinner we would go to Elephante or Michael’s.

If PCH were open we would drive up the coast and go to Westward beach. Do a quick hike overlooking the ocean. Get snacks from Vintage Grocers because they have such fun things to eat there, and get dinner from Malibu Seafood.

If we had more time I would even take her for a drive to Pasadena, so we could go from shop to shop in their downtown area. It’s also just nice to see all the sprawling estates. Pasadena feels unlike any other part of LA.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my mentor Dr. Elena Gabor who I’ve known for over 15 years. She has helped me get out of my own way many times. Her constant guidance in my life has shaped me to help others and carry on the work of helping others heal themselves. I would also like to thank Jessie May Wolfe who saw something in me that I didn’t realize was there. She has helped me further this journey of being of service to others.
