Meet Jennifer Wertheimer | Family Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Wertheimer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, what do you attribute your success to?
The success of my business is rooted in trust—both in my ability to deliver quality and in the relationships I’ve built with clients. Taking the leap to create for other people came with a lot of self doubt and fears. Believing in myself has been the driving force behind taking bold steps, navigating challenges, and staying committed to my vision. This self-confidence has helped me persevere through tough times and continue to grow, ensuring that my business is not just successful but sustainable. Trust in myself and the value I provide has been the foundation of every achievement.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My professional story starts with my 10 years in Corporate America which ended with many others when the pandemic hit in 2020. I then spent 2 years at home with my two sons navigating this new identity I was trying to find. I spent years telling myself my identity was a working mom and that was my best version of myself which changed over night. As I then had to switch the narrative to being a stay at home mom is my new best version. I found that I was taking photos of my boys, but also wanted to find ways to connect with others. My 10 years in a managing and customer facing role left me wanting to interact with others while creating which is where J.Werth Photography was born. It was an unknown leap of faith and lots of night second guessing what I was doing, which doesn’t seem to go away, Imposters syndrome is real. Putting myself out there was the first hurtle, the constant thoughts of who would pay me to take there photos there are so many talented people out there. I had to find extra confidence in myself and trust the process. This had lead to the most rewarding feeling of people coming back, seeing clients year after year watching them grow up in front of my lens is more rewarding then I can ever explain. My goal is to feel the photo, freeze time to come back and remember what it felt like to love your children, your significant other. Sometimes, most of the time the photoshoot is chaotic, mom and dad feel like no one is listening but that is my job to find the love within the chaos and freeze time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being born and raised in the South Bay, I believe there is no better place than our beaches. The weekend would be spent hiking the trails in Palos Verdes in the morning or bike rides on the beach stopping for Acai bowls at Paradise bowls, breakfast at Good Stuff in Hermosa or bringing breakfast burritos from Caps and Corks. Nothing beats a sunset at Terranea Resort or from the Shade hotel in Redondo beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Two mentors that have helped me navigate this career move have been Andrea Papadopoulos of A.poppy Photography and Callie of Callie Love Photography. I can not thank them enough for the unwavering support, honest feedback and the continuous cheerleading.
